The thread where I make Democrats angry- why we lost in 2024!

What do you base that on?

Trump won Idaho 66-30.
He won Utah 60-38

If the Democrats have a reasonable chance of flipping states, they would be FL, IA, and OH. But this would assume that Trump jug-fucks the economy so badly people are willing to rethink their alliegences.

Democrats need to worry about MN (Only won it by 51-46) and Virginia (52-46)

This is where I am concerned. Republicans do well in years the economy is good, even under a Democrat. We saw that in 2000, 2004, 2016, and 2024. People have enough time to worry about the social issues like abortions, guns, transgenders, gays, evolution, and immigration. I think at its heart, Americans are pretty conservative on most issues, and the Democrats are becoming the party of Purple-haired Starbucks Baristas.

The thing that should concern many Democrats is how much better Trump did this time with Hispanics and Asians, given his anti-immigrant rhetoric. Why? These groups are a lot more conservative than you think, probably more socially conservative than white people are.

So, yeah, if the economy is in bad enough shape, you might be able to slip Newsom past Shady Vance in 2028.

When JD Vance runs in 2028,
Vance it tainted a dumbsssed koolaid drinker.

will it piss you off if he 25th Anendments the ONE who makes the Orange Man Koolaid?

"Trump says tariffs are his favorite thing in the world," he elaborated. "They view the trade deficit as a scorecard in which we're scoring bad. There's no substantive or empirical economics to support any of those assertions, but that's what's in their head. That's what comprises the false reality that has gotten us into this mess."

Since 99% of my posts make Republicans Angry, I thought I'd do a post where I antagonize Democrats with hard, cold truths. Because it seems to me most of the Democrat discussion is "We weren't radical enough!"

So here is my list, 11 reasons why Democrats got their asses handed to them in 2024.

1) Joe Biden – completely and utterly screwed his party. It should have been evident to everyone around him that, at 81, he didn’t have the acuity or stamina to wage a campaign against Trump. He maybe never did, but the unique nature of the 2020 election gave him a pass. In 2020, he promised to be a transitional president. A second term never should have been in the cards.

In any event, Biden should have withdrawn after the 2022 midterms, and the Democrats did better than they deserved to because Trump insisted on extreme MAGA candidates for winnable races. A vigorous primary campaign would have tempered the steel of the eventual nominee.

2) Kamala Harris – In one aspect, it’s easy to be sympathetic; she had to hop in and pick up a ball that had been fumbled. That said, she was a poor candidate. She was a weak candidate in 2020 when she dropped out before the primaries, and she did little to distinguish herself as Vice President. But the Democrats were painted into a corner. Passing over her to pick someone more electable would have been seen as an insult to women and minorities. Additionally, there was the issue of who could legally use the money that Biden had raised to that point.

Harris should have done a self-evaluation and realized that she probably wasn’t the best candidate. She didn’t. We got the result we should have expected.

3) Tim Walz- a lousy pick. He brought nothing to the table. Minnesota hasn’t gone Red since 1972. If the Democrats are seriously fighting for MN, they need to rethink their party. Shapiro, Warnock, anyone who could have helped in a Swing state would have been better.

4) The Corporate Media didn’t do its job- The Corporate Media has this weird symbiotic relationship with Trump. They know he’s repulsive, but he’s good for ratings. He’s reality TV incarnate, normalizing lousy behavior because it’s entertaining. Joe Biden could look a bit confused trying to find the exit, and you’d get speculation about his mental acuity. Trump could rant about Haitians eating cats and Arnold Palmer’s….er… attributes, and nope, nothing to see here.

5) Abortion wasn’t the magic bullet – The initial shock of Dobbs probably saved the Democrats from worse results in 2022, but it was a hand Harris overplayed. Most Americans are ambivalent about abortion. They don’t think it should be illegal, but they don’t like it much, either. Making it the centerpiece of your campaign was a bad idea.

6) Taking Asians and Hispanics for granted – This is the untold story of 2024. Trump didn’t improve his numbers with white voters. He lost a percentage point among them. He only slightly improved his standing with black voters. The two big groups that he gained were Hispanics (+14) and Asians (+6), despite the toxic and racist language coming from Trump on Immigration.

Part of the reason was that the Harris team took them for granted, whereas Trump made genuine outreach. The other part of the problem is that immigration is affecting these communities, and muddled messaging didn’t help.

7) Immigration – Immigration has become a significant crisis, which Biden and Harris did not effectively manage. Part of the problem is immigrants figured out the Asylum loophole and abused the heck out of it. The other part of the problem is that Biden did very little to discourage immigration. While they deported more people than Trump did during his first term, they didn’t like to talk about it because they thought it wouldn’t play well with the Hispanic Community.

8) It’s the economy, stupid. The Biden economy was pretty good. Record stock market growth, record job growth, and low unemployment. The fly in the ointment, of course, was high inflation, driven by global commodities, labor shortages, and, yes, the Trillions in Stimulus That both Trump and Biden pumped into the economy to keep it afloat during COVID-19. The problem was, the Democrats did a poor job talking up the good stuff, and really weren't proactive enough on inflation, other than "Just let the fed handle it by putting home prices out of reach".

9) Transgender rights - Failure to Communicate. Democrats let Republicans run the table with this one. Every time the Republicans dragged out some college girl whining how she didn’t get a trophy, the Democrats should have brought out a transgender girl who transphobic people have abused. They didn’t do this, and the GOP got away with dehumanization.

10) Not holding Trump to account for COVID (or anything else!) – It is MIND-BOGGLING to me how Democrats weren’t reminding people at every step about how Trump mismanaged the COVID crisis (and subsequent recession).

11) Israel and Palestine- trying to thread the needle. This is where they should have taken a stand. Instead, they tried to please both sides and ended up pleasing neither one. So now you have these Arab-Americans in Dearborn, MI, who stayed home. How are things better for you now? ,
I'll give you props for the analysis but I can boil it down to the following, why the democrats lost.

  • Biden was a terrible president. He's proven corrupt, he's a liar, and he's incompetent.
  • Harris is dumb and accomplished nothing
  • The border was wide open for 4 years and the public finally said enough is enough.
  • This time, there was no widespread fraud, voting systems were tightened up in the swing states.

That's pretty much it!

That's pretty much it!

Except things were pretty good under Biden. In a year, we will be looking at Biden's 4% unemployment as the "Good Old Days".

Harris is like every other Vice President, they really have nothing to do except poke the president with a stick to see if he's still alive.

The Border wasn't "wide open" for four years. Quite the contrary, Biden deported more people than Trump did first go around, abused Title 42 to keep people out even after Covid had passed.

I do agree that Biden mishandled the issue. He should have been more open about his efforts and he should have waited for Congress to get off their asses and fix immigration laws.

What do you base that on?

Trump won Idaho 66-30.
He won Utah 60-38

White people are organizing with Black people and larger numbers quietly behind the scenes. Liberal churches will be more involved.

We focus on the fact and the reality we see every minute of every day now that the Republican Party is a Lawless anticonstitutional authoritarian wannabe religious fanatic party

Americans in Utah do not want any of that.

The border was wide open. STOP . LYING

The border was wide open. STOP . LYING

How many of those people got sent back almost immediately?

Here's the thing. Migrants finally figured out that aslyum system gave them a route in, partially because Trump and Human Reptile Stephen Miller dismantled the system for processing those cases.

So instead, you have Trump deporting legal aliens because he can't find the illegal ones.

You put too much faith in human nature.

The Republicans are acting flawlessly, but deporting people is a huge crowd pleaser. It shouldn't be. We should be better than that, but Trump is getting high marks for his immigration policies.

What will probably be his undoing is the economy. But that's going to take at least a year before people start seeing the impact.

Trump is highly popular when he has no real power, other than provoking fear and intimidation in every republican politician who accepts his false realities as reslity

Market Carnage Goes Global

APR 9

As stock markets plunge, Donald Trump seems untroubled. That is scary

Trump’s insistence on doubling down on disastrous consumer taxes (tariffs)—even suggesting a new 50 percent tariff on China—is a strong indication that, true to form, he will refuse to concede error. Instead, he will persist in wrecking the international global trading system and nuking trillions in wealth. Equal parts economically illiterate and defiant toddler, he would rather see the U.S. economy and his presidency go up in smoke than reverse course.

On Monday, Trump raved on Truth Social:
ll:
“The United States has a chance to do something that should have been done DECADES AGO. Don’t be Weak! Don’t be Stupid!”
Is it all that stupid to be worried by trillions in lost wealth, impending layoffs, a rising chance of recession, and the economic chaos that is paralyzing investors? Perhaps not if you are below the top 1 percent and lack your own golf club to which you can escape the economic tumult to tee off with the Saudis. Trump bellowed on:
“Don’t be a PANICAN (A new party based on Weak and Stupid people!). Be Strong, Courageous, and Patient, and GREATNESS will be the result!”
His temper tantrum would surprise no one who has been following his utter indifference to expertise, public opinion, and common sense for the worst part of a decade. But before we attribute this entire self-inflicted disaster to one man’s unhinged psyche and stubborn ignorance, we should remember this ordeal could end TOMORROW. All it would take is a few House and Senate Republicans willing to stand up to Trump.

“Sen. Rand Paul—a right-wing firebrand from a deep red state—is in some ways an unlikely figure to articulate a searing case against Donald Trump’s agenda,” The Washington Post reports. “But the senator from Kentucky is issuing a stark warning to fellow Republicans that Trump’s tariff policies could lead to a generational political loss for the party.” Terrific—so why not mount a filibuster and/or stall nominees until Congress yanks back the power to lay tariffs?

Just stop. The border is what cost you the election.

Yeah, because more came across the border. Duh.

Clearly, legislation wasn’t necessary to stop the flood. Trump did it in less than a month. The flood should have been stopped and then any legislation could have been explored. Biden and Democrats wanted illegal immigration. They knew some would get SS# and be able to vote. They knew some would get on Medicaid. They want votes. Nothing else matters.

Yeah, let’s just let the world in. What could go wrong?

Assuming Democrats and RINO’s don’t roadblock his tax cut and deregulation plans, you will be in for rude awakening on the economy. I can hardly wait to hear the excuses. The Democrats plan was to printing money and hire more government workers. That is like going on a spending spree with your credit card. The whole family has fun for a while, until you hit your limit and the bill is due.

Yeah, because more came across the border. Duh.

Well, duh, yeah, because of conditions in their countries that had nothing to do with us.

Well, that's not really true, because the tide had tapered off long before he got there.

We also don't know how many are just sneaking in rather than try to work the system. (I would guess it's a lot!) When you make something illegal, you lose control of it.

Yeah, let’s just let the world in. What could go wrong?

Well, we could go into a demographic death spiral like Japan because we aren't reproducing at replacement rates. That could happen.

We actually NEED immigration, but Trump is making America an unwelcome place to even people we want.

Guy, the economy is already going into the shitter. Have you watched the Dow the last few days? the people who know better are cashing out.

The only reason why we didn't see unemployment pop up over 5% last month was because all those government workers are still being counted as "terminal leave" on the payrolls.

Face it. Democrats suck.

Well, duh, yeah, because of conditions in their countries that had nothing to do with us.

What does that mean? Their conditions have gotten better now so they don’t want to leave? The conditions in the US are now all of a sudden inferior to their home countries?

What has happened is that the gravy train has stopped, which slowed down the crossings. Yes, their friends telling them to come because they can get debit cards in NY, get on Medicaid and get a SS# enticed more illegal crossings. Go figure.

Well, that's not really true, because the tide had tapered off long before he got there.

It tapered off because Biden was making a last ditch effort to try to win the election. Had Harris been elected, it would have spiked right back up and probably even made worse.

We also don't know how many are just sneaking in rather than try to work the system. (I would guess it's a lot!) When you make something illegal, you lose control of it.

We didn’t know how many were sneaking in before either, so I don’t see the difference. Are you suggesting we remove the illegal component and allow anyone into the country? Open borders?

Well, we could go into a demographic death spiral like Japan because we aren't reproducing at replacement rates. That could happen.

No, it won’t happen. We don’t have that problem.

We actually NEED immigration, but Trump is making America an unwelcome place to even people we want.

We need some immigration and not illegal immigration. Allowing people to come into the country and get Medicaid and perhaps not even work is a net loss to our economy. Believe it or not, many would love to do just that, but as long as they could vote, Democrats don’t care.

Guy, the economy is already going into the shitter. Have you watched the Dow the last few days? the people who know better are cashing out.

The market and the economy are not the same thing. The freak out by people in the market is spurned by pure scare tactics. No prices have increased. Negotiations haven’t even been made yet. Fat cats with money on the side are taking advantage of the ignorant masses, just waiting to buy back in when the dust clears. Everybody with any market knowledge knows that you don’t sell the dip. The problem is, many are ignorant and scared and they sell, which causes a downward spiral. Lemmings gonna lemming and Democrats are the kings.

The only reason why we didn't see unemployment pop up over 5% last month was because all those government workers are still being counted as "terminal leave" on the payrolls.

A surplus of government workers is like robbing Peter to pay Paul. It makes no sense unless they are essential. By every reasonable account, we have a LOT of un-essential government workers.

republican Christians did this to her

illegal immigrants didn’t do this to her
Women who have abortions didn’t do this to her
Gay married people didn’t do this to her

White evangelical Christians about half of the Catholics in this country who vote for Republicans did this to her.
