Not all of it falls directly on the office of the Governor, but certainly much of it does.

This will be tough for Newsom to defend when he tries to be President in 2028.

He will not be able to point fingers to anyone but maybe the LA Mayor or the LAFD Fire Chief. Both are protected classes and cannot be criticized by a rich white male without significant backlash.

I think Newsom was already pretty much disqualified. California has been (and San Francisco before that, where he was mayor) an ongoing Petri dish for pure, unchecked progressive politics, and between the overall results and the general politics of the country, that's not a good thing.
