It always astonished me that Merkel was viewed as this great global leader. The media in the West praised her endlessly. When Trump was elected they anointed her the premier world leader in Americas absent etc.

Which nation did more for Putin and Russias success than Merkel? She shut down clean energy nuclear plants at the urging of environmental groups. Talking about Russian spies who the Western media suggesedt Trump must have helped, how many Russian spies infiltrated these environmental groups that applied pressure on Merkel? Brilliant work on their part.

Now Germany is scrambling to prepare for winter. If they receive their regular gas import from Russia in a few months, you can be assured it will come with a premium pricetag, at best. Russia won't win in the long run, but Europe will suffer in the short run, possibly much longer.

Are those family members whose loved ones freeze going to call them martyrs for saving the planet, or will they come to their senses and accept multiple energy sources?
