This may be problematic for Kash Patel

Prosecutors focus on Trump declassification claims in Kash Patel testimony: report

Federal prosecutors questioned former Trump aide Kash Patel on Thursday about his previous claims that former President Trump had declassified documents recovered from Mar-a-Lago, The Washington Post reported.

Patel appeared for the second time in a month before a federal grand jury investigating Trump’s handling of classified documents after the Department of Justice agreed on Wednesday to grant him immunity for any information he provided.

The former Trump aide was also asked about how and why the former president took classified records with him to Mar-a-Lago, according to the Post.

Patel previously said in media interviews that he had witnessed Trump issue declassification orders near the end of his presidency, particularly on the FBI’s investigation into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.

Patel’s grand jury appearance was his second in less than a month. At his first appearance in October, he asserted his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination, according to people familiar with the matter who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss the situation. Prosecutors argued he was not in legal jeopardy and therefore could not take the Fifth, but a federal judge disagreed with the government.
Prosecutors ultimately decided to grant Patel limited-use immunity, the people familiar with the matter said, meaning he could not be charged for a crime based on what he said in the grand jury, as long as he didn’t lie.

The problem for Kash (beyond his taking the 5th to protect himself from self incrimination, not a good look for the head of the FBI) is Jack Smith's indictment of Dotard and his co-defendants state trump in fact did not declassify the docs he stole.

Paradoxically, if Kash was telling the truth..........which he isn't.........it would mean trump declassified highly sensitive docs so he could........what........show them off to guests at MAL? Nah, he'd never do that.

Tell you what, when you all start caring about bidens handling of classified materials, I'll start caring about trump handling classified material....deal?

Fine, but anonymous sources and idle conjecture has worked out perfectly well for the Left ever since they said Trump was a Russian asset.

I mean, Kamala's in the White House, Congress is under full Dem hegemony, and they even have a majority on the Supreme Court.

Yessiree bob.

Things are just going swimmingly for them ever since they shifted to this "people familiar with the conversation" claptrap.

Brilliant.
Yeah 'sources say'......'experts say'.....'reportedly he said'......'most people say'....Just a few of the garbage precursors used just before blatant lies.

WAPO ignores the fact that prosecutors refused to charge Biden with possession of classified documents because he was too feeble. As V.P. Biden didn't have a right to the documents but Trump, as former president had legal possession. If anyone is in trouble it's high ranking members of the weaponized judicial department who authorized the raid on the former president's home as a political stunt that backfired big time..

Funny how you left Pence out of this.

but Trump, as former president had legal possession.

No he didn't. Trump was a civilian. The classified documents and Presidential records are the property of the United States governm, ent.

BTW - did you know that Just like Biden and Pence, Trump wasn't charged with possession of the classified documents. He was charged with refusing to return them under 18 USS 793(e) when so order be officers of the United States embodies in the National Archives, agents of the FBI, and a federal Grand Jury subpeona.

There was no "raid", it was the orderly execution of a search warrant based on probable cause that a crime was being commited - to wit - the previously mentioned willful retention of classified marterials under 18 USC 793(e).

How the fuck does Grisham know they were classified? Just because they said "classified" on them? Press secretaries aren't in the loop, they don't know diddly. They lie when they're told to, that's the entire extent of the job.

Tell you what, when you stop making fatuous comparisons between the circumstances surrounding Biden's and trump's handling of classified docs we can have an adult conversation based in reality.

Don't blame him for taking the 5th, the illegal jack smith political prosecution was a stain on American history.

There is no comparison, Xiden stole classified documents for years, hide them, and sold them. Trump did not.

Hur's politically motivated, inappropriate commentary violating DoJ protocols notwithstanding, the glaring element missing in order to justify charging Biden was the lack of any evidence he tried to conceal the removal of docs from the FBI.
In his congressional testimony Hur said, "we did not find evidence that rose to the level of proof beyond a reasonable doubt" Biden had committed a crime.

The opposite is true in trump's case. Which is part of the reason Patel's role in trump's crime will no doubt come up during his confirmation hearing.
