PAOLI, Ind. (AP) -- A historic iron bridge in the southern Indiana town of Paoli collapsed when a semi-trailer tried to cross it.

The accident happened just after noon on Friday [Christmas Day]. According to the Orange County Indiana Law Enforcement's Facebook page, 23-year-old Mary Lambright of Fredericksburg, Indiana was driving a 2015 Volvo semi-truck, with a 53-foot box trailer.

The trailer was carrying 43,000 pounds of bottled water. [that puts the gross weight of truck, trailer and load at 76,000 lbs +/- or 38 tons].

...

Authorities say that she’d driven over the bridge before in her own car and knew about the 6 ton weight limitation.

When asked by police why she crossed the bridge carrying 30 tons, she admitted to not knowing how many pounds that was.

The trailer immediately began ripping open when she crossed the bridge because it was taller than the clearance height. The added weight caused the bridge to collapse.

Truck driving is close to a minimum-wage job now, once you factor in all the costs and overtime. Hence, it does not attract the best and brightest.

In this case, the driver was Amish. Literally.

“She’s a very inexperienced driver,” Paoli Police Chief Randy Sanders said of Lambright, explaining that she had left the Amish order a year or so ago. Lambright’s history of driving a motorized vehicle was even more limited, because the Amish use nonmotorized modes of transportation.

Would that excuse satisfy you if she had killed your family?

The number of stupid Americans is enormous and growing...thanks to a failed government school system and a disintegrating family unit.

Further proof of the stupidity of Americans, are the number of them who think big unlimited government is great.
