Leftard regulations - GONETell us Jim what specific policies or bills has Trump put into place that has the economy booming.
Which ones specifically.
Many laws in the transportation industry that were being put in place were held back, delayed or removed. This helps smaller carriers compete in the market. Under the Obama administration we received the ELD mandate and although we are under the mandate still, the FMCSA and DOT have been working with carriers to help them through the transition. The lease interchange agreement has been delayed under the Trump administration, this law would have crippled small bus carriers and would have put them out of business,
The transportation industry is working with the Trump administration to ease up in several areas.
The easing of the regulations has helped with the shortage of drivers in the industry.
The primary cause of the shortage of truck drivers is the lack of qualified truck drivers to fill the vacant jobs. The problem could worsen if a significant number of new truck drivers aren’t trained and added to the workforce soon. This is an issue all across the country. Apr 5 2019
The reason there is a lack of qualified drivers are rules and regulations. We lost several qualified drivers over the ELD mandate. There is a lot of frustration with them and the drivers don’t want to mess with it. With many of the other regulations being eased it is helping a little but the economy is demanding more trucking.
Most economists say the labor imbalance has an easy solution: higher pay. Anyone remember the nursing shortage? Better pay and working conditions seem to have cured that. Anyone talking about a coder shortage? No. Instead, companies complain about how much they have to pay to attract qualified coders.
All the trucking industry has to do is make pay and working conditions good enough to drag workers from other industries.
