Trump needs the media and the media needs Trump

The GOP did as well. Pissed me off.
You can thank President Trump for the virtual collapse of the mainstream media in the last couple of months. George Bush let the media walk all over him but it ain't gonna happen during the Trump administration and I love to see him lash out at them.

Trump will mess with the media to distract the left while he's destroying them with executive orders and GOP bills. A master of misdirection, good job Trump :eusa_clap:

So you figured this out and nobody else in the media did? Or on the "left". Wow.

Follow the money. The media loves your outrage as well as what you perceive to be the "other side." Everyone on both "sides" are fellow citizens. And everyone on both "sides" are playing for money using sycophants willing to repeat talking points as their pawns. Not for me. I won't denigrate a fellow American for disagreeing with me. I will just point out when I think they are wrong or misguided.

You are at post 51, let's have this discussion at 10,000 posts and see what you think.

Ah, i'm ok with Trump ripping Democrats on their Fake News. I think it's great. I hope he keeps it up. I think his supporters want him to. And come on, it is fantastic entertainment, no?

Ah, your screen name seems appropriate. Lost, sense of humor if found contact Dim Bulb.

Jeez that's a good one about my screen name. Very original.

The fact that you love to see anybody lash out at anybody tells us all we need to know.

It's funny how you guys say these things in spite of the fact the left-wing controlled media has been completely ineffective at stopping Trump's rise to power. They've thrown everything but the kitchen sink at him and are now resorting to outright generating fake news to try and damage him somehow.

Trump has never had the media on his side, so why does he need them now? The media certainly doesn't need Trump and would love to not have Trump if they could make that a reality. This notion they somehow need each other is just naive and stupid.

There is no "left wing controlled media". Media is controlled by capitalism. It's there to make a profit. That's why they foisted Rump on us in the first place decades ago --- he sells eyeballs.

Nobody makes a dime off a political ideology. You make many many many dimes by broadcasting freak shows.
It's a very simple, if insidious, psychology. And Rump has always been dependent on that freak show stage for his very existence.

Admit it --- without the vast wasteland of television, and a smattering of help from magazines (remember them?) ---- you and I would have no idea who he even is.

That may be so but he's the president now so everybody knows who he is.

Therefore, your argument just went down like the Hindenburg.

Actually it went up like a four-plus-hour erection. Because without that media-created existence he COULDN'T have run for anything. In effect we can blame this presidency on the media. Had they not done what they always do ---- focused on the emotional, the unhinged, the Crazy --- we would not have been put in this position at all.

Thanks a LOT, The Media. :fu:

Boss I think I disagree with you. I think you are wrong. If it weren't for President Trump the media would invent him to get clicks. Clicks from you to justify your world view of the Evil Plotting Media and clicks from Progressives to justify their world view that President Trump is evil. Sounds like you've bought into the dynamic hook line and sinker. I just disagree with your approach is all.

Hey, I would love it if the media were unbiased and honest. The fact is, they're not. Every media source has a political bias and there's nothing I can do about that except recognize it. I laughed a few weeks ago when some progressive posted the graphic of all the news media outlets on a poster that was supposedly showing how far left or right they were and how much integrity they had, etc. Of course it was a total joke... nothing resembling the truth. But it has been plastered all over social media and message boards as if it's some kind of legitimate credible research.

I stand by my comments. Trump is the most powerful man in the world now... he's the President of the United States. He doesn't NEED the media. The media doesn't need (or want) him. He's not obligated to the media, he doesn't have to satisfy the media, he's not there to please the media. The media has an obligation to it's subscribers/readers/viewers. In that respect, they need access to the president. So there's really no 'mutual' dynamic about it.

Again, you're talking about water under the bridge. It doesn't matter anymore. You're arguing about yesterday's weather forecast. You're arguing about who had the best team in the NFL last season in the playoffs. You appear to have taken your Viagra but there's no woman in your bed. So you and your blow-up doll enjoy your hard on... I'm sure she will be impressed! lol

The Media, understanding that we're speaking of commercial, big-corporate media, has an obligation only to its stockholders. Were that not the case it might actually act responsibly. Again... they're there to make a profit, not to serve any kind of ideology. Ideologies don't make profits. Freak shows do.

The rest of your analysis here might be true for some generic president but it's in no way true for Rump. Unless he gets help for his crippling Narcissistic Personality Disorder he absolutely needs TV, Twitter and anything else that will bring him what he craves and what he's always craved--------- ATTENTION.

Again it's telling that you cut out your own post from the nested quotes in order to run away from your own point. Which was, let's review and roll tape:

--- all of which is complete delusional crapola. And we've already demonstrated why.

I understand that you want to move the goalposts to the present in order to make the point of the past go away. That's gonna work about as well as "thousands and thousands of Arabs dancing on a rooftop in Jersey City".

Americans need/want a honest media. An unbiased media that reports on what's actually happening, not a vision of what they want people to believe.

Well in a sense, you are right... they have a responsibility to their stockholders but then that goes back to the marketing of their product to the consumer. If their competitor has better access to the president, they can't deliver a competitive product. And it just so happens that most of the powerful media outlets have stockholders who are mostly progressive lefties. So their desire is to have the product be more tailored to promote their progressive narrative. Because they seek the widest consumer base, they have to give the appearance of objectivity and impartiality but this is a facade.

As for Trump... again, he holds the most powerful office in the world. He doesn't need attention, he has attention because he IS the president. What he MAY have needed in the past is irrelevant now. A snow skier going up hill needs momentum.... craves it... wants it... has to have it... but once he has crested the top of the hill, momentum is not important anymore. He doesn't need it. He is going to naturally have it because of physics... he's going downhill now and gravity will provide all the momentum he needs. This is where we're at with Trump now. You are thinking he needs something he doesn't need anymore, it comes naturally now, he IS the president.

I'm well aware of what I said, I din't feel the need to quote myself since I wasn't addressing myself. I haven't moved any goal posts, I don't even know what the hell you're talking about. You're not making coherent sense... not that you ever do, but really.... not a lick.

Americans need/want a honest media. An unbiased media that reports on what's actually happening, not a vision of what they want people to believe.

Sadly we won't get one as long as the underlying objective is Profit. What we'll get is ten thousand stories on how Michael Jackson died and the latest missing white girl and fires and scandals and shootings and irrelevant celebrity bullshit.

Back in the early daze when alphabet networks were all there were and presented straight news about real stuff, it was all subsidized by Gilligan's Island and the Beverly Hillbillies. They were loss leaders, only there to make the station or the network look good to the FCC and therefore worthy of keeping a license.

Those days are gone.

As for Trump... again, he holds the most powerful office in the world. He doesn't need attention, he has attention because he IS the president. What he MAY have needed in the past is irrelevant now.

I know you WISH it were irrelevant but it's directly connected to the original point that Rump is himself a creation of the Media, without which he wouldn't exist.

Not sure where you live but on this planet, what you owe your very existence to, and would not be in the position you are today without, is kind of crucial.

Funny you should mention skiing. I was about to supplement a previous post from this article.

>> There is little trace of sympathy or understanding. When people lose face, Mr. Trump’s reaction is swift and unforgiving.

And when Mr. Trump feels he has been made a fool of, his response can be volcanic. Ivana Trump told Mr. D’Antonio about a Colorado ski vacation she took with Mr. Trump soon after they began dating. The future Mrs. Trump had not told her boyfriend that she was an accomplished skier. As she recalls it, Mr. Trump went down the hill first and waited for her at the bottom:

IVANA TRUMP: "So he goes and stops, and he says, “Come on, baby. Come on, baby.” I went up. I went two flips up in the air, two flips in front of him. I disappeared. Donald was so angry, he took off his skis, his ski boots, and walked up to the restaurant. ... He could not take it. He could not take it." [emphasis in original]

He had been bested in public. As he stormed off the slope, leaving behind a trail of equipment, she recalled, Mr. Trump could not contain his embarrassment.

“I’m not going to do this,” she recalled him saying, “for anybody, including Ivana.” << --- What Drives Rump? Fear of Losing Status
Again, part of the NPD you like to pretend doesn't exist.

That makes sense, as you are suggesting attention for President Trump is basically part of (a big part) of what he values. That may be, I don't know. And you are dead on no bs correct in your opinion that President Trump and the current media storm created each other. Those in this thread saying that President Trump doesn't need the media at all seem to have ignored, for example, the echo effect of his tweets.

Not sure where you live but on this planet, what you owe your very existence to, and would not be in the position you are today without, is kind of crucial.

Well no... it's really NOT. I exist because my mother and father fucked each other back in 1959. My mother and father are both dead now... so... irrelevant. Yes, they WERE crucial at one point. They aren't anymore. That's MY point.
