OK, here's the scoop: This "disparity" is entirely due to how each state deals with proportionality. Some states have minimum vote requirements, while others have a winner-takes-all system of awarding delegates (e.g., Florida). But it is all based on the number of VOTES each candidate receives.

The corrupt aspect of the nominating process comes in several forms. The most egregious is selecting delegates who will abandon the candidate they are pledged to at the first opportunity.

The second most egregious form is the implementation of rules which are designed to benefit a particular candidate at a particular moment irrespective of the wishes of the VOTERS (e.g., Colorado).

Political parties have the right to manipulate their nominating processes any way they want, but voters have the right to tell them to go to hell...
