Trump signs executive order to dismantle the Civil Rights Act of 1964

Another in long line of examples of 47 exceeding his authority.
I'm adamantly opposed to the Civil Rights Act. I think it promotes identity politics and undermines equal rights, rather than promoting them.

That's said, this EO is a bad idea. We can't force fundamental change on society without real consensus. Attempting to do so merely creates strife on all sides.

A competent leader could make the case for the change, and actually build consensus for their ideas. But we don't vote for competent leaders.

Of course, this is yet another attempt at inversion.

This EO is specifically designed to discourage enforcing Civil Rights legislation.

It uses the same tactic that Roberts used when undermining the Voting Rights Act.Roberts used the excuse that DoJ found little evidence that states were actively trying to keep minorities from voting.

The day after the ruling, voter suppression laws were introduced in Georgia. In less than a year, nearly every Dixiecrat state did so. In Texas, Republicans used the exact same language that their Jim Crow ancestors did when introducing theirs.

But this ‘look the other way” approach has survived in the wake of GOP congresses and Trump.

Trump’s clear intention is to stop the Federal government from enforcing Civil Rights laws.
The EO has nothing to do with the civil rights act

Please quote any part of the EO that does

There is no voter suppression laws in GA. Since the demklan has lost the people have been able to vote

In a sweeping move that civil rights advocates say could unravel decades of progress toward racial and gender equity, President Donald J. Trump signed an executive order on Wednesday that seeks to dismantle a key legal tool for combating systemic discrimination: disparate-impact liability.

The order, titled Restoring Equality of Opportunity and Meritocracy, frames itself as a defense of "colorblind" principles, arguing that policies considering race or gender in any way— even unintentionally— undermine meritocracy. But legal experts and activists warn that the directive could gut enforcement of landmark civil rights laws, including the Civil Rights Act of 1964, by making it nearly impossible to challenge discriminatory practices that disproportionately harm marginalized groups.

When I read the article title, I thought it was a joke. It was not. trump is intent on turning back the racial clock to the 50's. Please do not tell me that trump is not a racist. That will not fly anymore. I hope all the minorities that voted for this man have learned a lesson. trump on lies when his lips are moving. LESSON LEARNED!
About time. Daily Kos, but I hope it's true.

Of course it does. It pokes at the core conceit of the Civil Rights Act - and more broadly, all "equity" laws. These laws claim to promote equal rights, but instead do the opposite. The EO is calling that bluff.
