“I think she’s one of the most well-known Native Americans,” Erin Elmore said of Pocahontas.

Donald Trump’s label of choice for Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) has long been “Pocahontas,” a derogatory term intended to question Warren’s claim of having Cherokee ancestors. (That’s when he isn’t just calling her “the Indian.”)

But don’t tell that to Trump surrogate (and failed “Apprentice” candidate) Erin Elmore, who speculated to MSNBC’s Kristen Welker on Monday that the presumptive GOP presidential nominee uses the nickname in a more positive way.

“Perhaps it’s a compliment,” said Elmore, who prefaced the statement by saying she herself is “of Native American descent.”

“I think she’s one of the most well-known Native Americans,” Elmore added of Pocahontas, attempting to explain how the label might be complimentary.

Pocahontas — whose real name is actually Matoaka — was abducted by the English from the Powhatan Nation, which strongly disagrees with her representations in pop culture.

Elmore did not immediately return a request for comment.

Yeah, I'm sure Trump means it as a "compliment"...

However Trump had no right to degrade Pocahontas, who was a great American by all standards
