U.N running out of money and warning members of financial crisis

The UN is a waste of time and money.

Nobody pays attention to any sanctions that they might impose on another
Nation. Now if Peru reneged on some pledge, they'd be all over them, but
if Russia, China or even the US did something they didn't like, they're powerless
to do anything about it.

Just get them out of the country and be done with it.
If it hadn't been for those UN sanctions, North Korea would never have come to the negotiation table. They also sanctioned Iran for refusing to give up its enriched uranium program. Pressure on a bad actor works best when the world is behind that pressure. The UN does that better than a couple of countries alone.

Sorry Mama...But those sanctions got enforced when we strong armed our
allies., Just like we're doing now with Iran.

Russia and China can veto anything they wish in the Security Council.
The EU is gonna do what we tell them to do or they can fund NATO
themselves.

The Big Dogs run the show at the UN.

The UN requested that America relax its blockade on Cuba for a two week
cooling off period during the Cuban Missile Crisis. We just laughed at them.

In Grenada the UN condemned our invasion saying that Grenada was a soverign country, even though Rebels had captured the Governor of the
Island and then executed him. We laughed at them again and when we
were finished we had thrown out Soldiers from East Germany, Russia,
Bulgaria, Cuba, North Korea and 4 from Libya.

That was an American coalition that kicked Iraq out of Kuwait, not UN.

We could just rent a Hall somewhere in Washington and summon all the
Ambassadors of other countries to a meeting to tell them what we want
rather than fund the UN. It would be quicker and cheaper.

I appreciate your information; I realize that the UN is not a force in itself. The ability to be heard is important, though. And btw, the UN is not in existence to "tell them what we want."
The US needs to shrink its hat size a bit.

Time for the global good old boys club ( aka UN) to shut down. They have proven time and again to be a colossal waste of time and money.

Yup. All they do is make resolutions which they never enforce.

That property the UN is on in NYC is prime real estate and could be turned into apartments, offices and shops.

The city could make a fortune on it and the UN could takes its baggage to some other country and let that country support their stupid asses.

They haven't been worth spit for decades.

There are actual things more important than $$ sometimes. How much leadership does the US plan to give up this year? Seems like some of you don't want us to have a hand in any international forums any longer. That is dangerous.

The UN is useless and has been for a very long time.

We have allies all over. We will still have those allies if there isn't a UN.

Our hat size is what it is. It is meant to fit the size of our head.

The UN, like the League of Nations before it, was meant to prevent
Global War. The League of Nations failed. The UN has now drifted
from the original intention, and cannot prevent anything. They can't even
help starving countries because Despots or War Lords or whatever
steal the food for themselves.

You are correct when you imply that the UN is not in existence to promote
America's agenda. Well, if it is of no use to us, why do we fund it?

If we pulled out tomorrow and forced the entire UN to move to Geneva,
it would have no bearing on America. For economic purposes the rest
of the world is still going to do business with the US. For protection, the
majority of the world is going to look to the US.

If the United States and even the USSR taught the world anything over the
last 70+ years...it is how to count Megatons.

We hold the trump cards. Nobody else can defeat us, because we can
destroy the world in a couple of hours. That's a pretty big sized head,
and it is the text book definition of "clout."

Now...IMO, there is no moral reason why Nukes haven't been used since
WWII. The purpose of War is to destroy your enemy. (There is nothing moral about that) The powers have
never used Nukes, not because they're afraid of what Peru might think of
us, but the belief that once those missiles start flying there will be no stopping
them.

If we take out Iran...that gives an open invitation for China to Nuke Taiwan
or Russia to Nuke the Ukraine. The UN or any other place for talk can't
prevent that. No Power needs to fear World opinion because there will be
no world left after WWIII is completed.

The UN is outdated and a waste of time and money. It cannot fulfill its
original purpose.

Child sexual abuse by UN peacekeepers"

An Associated Press (AP) investigation revealed in 2017 that more than 100 United Nations (UN) peacekeepers ran a child sex ring in Haiti over a 10-year period and none were ever jailed. The report further found that over the past 12 years there have been almost 2,000 allegations of sexual abuse and exploitation by peacekeepers and other UN personnel around the world. AP found the abuse is much greater than previously known. After the AP report, U.S. Ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley, urged all countries to hold UN peacekeepers accountable for any sexual abuse and exploitation. As early as 2004, Amnesty International reported that under-age girls were being kidnapped, tortured and forced into prostitution in Kosovo with UN and NATO personnel being the customers driving the demand for the sex slaves. The UN's department of peacekeeping in New York acknowledged at that time that "peacekeepers have come to be seen as part of the problem in trafficking rather than the solution".[1][2][3]
