Yes, they get a free pass, even if soldiers committed crimes. All other armies of all wars in history got a free pass, so there is no point in singling out the German army and deny the "free pass".The wehrmacht were not the SS but they don't get a free pass, some Wehrmacht were also involved in atrocities, some were present at mass executions by the Einsatzgruppen in the Soviet Union, there were Wehrmacht units involved in crushing the Warsaw ghetto uprising, and Azov are part of the military structure of the Ukrainians, some have just run from Avdivka like roaches.
