A buddy of mine owns a high-end pawn shop (Rolex, Louis Vuitton YSL, etc), and took in two of these on a trade, brand new in their boxes:
The guns are Armscor/Rock Island Armory VR80 12 gauge semi-auto shotguns. They list at $699, but a couple of local dealers have them priced between $600 and $650. My friend says he wants to get out of the gun business. He says "With a pawn shop, you're either a gun shop or you're not, and that's just not what my clientele comes in for."
Admittedly, his clientele consists primarily of women shopping for high end bags (like Louis Vuitton), and customers looking for diamonds and diamond jewelry, high-end watches and rare coins. He's has recently gotten into selling valuable baseball cards.
So, I made him an offer for both guns. For $900 cash, out the door, I got both guns (neither had ever been fired), four 5 round magazines, two 20 round magazines and four boxes of 12-gauge ammunition.
I left the store, called another buddy (who's a St. Johns County Sheriff) and met him at the Sheriff's range.
These guns are a fuckin' hoot.
But now I need more shotgun shells...
