We've Officially Entered the Next Phase of Trump's Dictatorship Era

‘The Trump administration pushed forward into a new phase of the rolling national constitutional crisis over the weekend, reportedly defying two different federal court orders imposing limits on its deportation of immigrants without due process. First, immigrant authorities deported Rasha Alawieh, a kidney transplant specialist at Brown University, despite a judge’s Friday order halting her removal. Second, authorities deported about 250 Venezuelan migrants, flouting another judge’s explicit directive to turn around American planes that hadn’t yet landed in El Salvador, where the migrants were being sent. The Justice Department claimed that it could not comply with the order barring Alawieh’s removal because it arrived too late. But the White House defended its defiance of the order prohibiting deportations of Venezuelans, insisting that the judge had no jurisdiction over the migrants—and that Trump holds absolute, unreviewable constitutional authority to expel noncitizens.

Taken on their own, these claims would be chilling enough. But they were coupled with another novel late-night claim of presidential power: On Monday, Donald Trump purported to reverse President Joe Biden’s pardons of Jan. 6 committee members. In a Truth Social post that came just after midnight, Trump claimed the pardons are now “VOID, VACANT, AND OF NO FURTHER FORCE OR EFFECT,” asserting the power to undo their clemency because Biden allegedly signed it “by Autopen.” (It is the official position of the executive branch, unchallenged by the courts, that autopen qualifies as a valid presidential signature.)

Taken together, these actions and declarations amount to a significant escalation in Trump’s transformation of his own presidency into an autocracy or, perhaps more accurately, a monarchy. His Justice Department has taken vague claims of “Article II authority” to new extremes, ascribing to him an unchecked right to expel immigrants with no semblance of due process—and as his defenders have asserted all weekend, to ignore lawful court orders that stand in his way. Meanwhile, Trump himself has made it clear that this extreme and dangerous new vision of executive power does not apply to the presidency, but only his presidency: It is not a set of neutral principles, but an ever-evolving pretext for his own personal whims and cruelties, dressed up in legalese concocted by the conservative legal movement for precisely this purpose.

It’s clear by now that when the second Trump administration tests the limits of the law, it prefers to create enough chaos and confusion to cloud the true extent of its lawbreaking. That’s evidently what happened when it raced to expel Rasha Alawieh, a Lebanese immigrant who specializes in kidney transplants. Alawieh has a valid visa to work at Brown Medicine, but immigration officers detained her anyway on Thursday and began rapidly preparing for her removal. We still do not know the basis for this deportation.’

Trump is a criminal, convicted felon, and absolutely corrupt; Trump is unfit to hold any public office.

Sounds scary. You should put two masks on and curl up in your safe space.

This Administration is corrupt, chaotic and autocratic.

You need professional help, Jones
What part of his post isn’t true.

Rote denial is not an argument, or a rebuttal.

It’s just another demonstration of your disregard for reality.

And your devotion to Trump’s facism.

It's funny how you cry over imagined abuses yet you cheer a guy who has been kidnapping conscripts off of the street and forcing them into the Ukraine War meatgrinder against their will.

You throw people in prison and torture them because they were setup by Pelosi on Jan 6th. One girl was charged with assault because she raised her arm to keep a cop from clubbing her head in with a baton. She said the cops weren't protecting the Capital. They were picking fights with protesters.

As a Russian troll, I’m sure you know that your leader has been emptying prisons and kidnapping people off the street to press gang into his war.

No one was tortured over Jan 6th. your masters fed you that lie, or you made it up on your own.

Fuck you and your bogus Russia, Russia, Russia claims.

I'm a United States Army combat vet who would gladly give my life to protect this nation against Russia.

And I'm not making anything up.

If I hadn't seen it on video I wouldn't be talking about it.

I wasn't there, but I saw some of what was going on during live media coverage......and most of the nonsense that happened at the Capital on Jan 6th 2021 was because Democrats set up MAGA protesters by inviting them inside the Capital, murdered 2 of them, and intentionally started a riot outside so they could blame the riot on Trump. The FBI had dozens of agents embedded in the crowd to induce and agitate them into becoming violent. Most of the damage that was done at the Capital was done by nongovernmental assets that were transported by bus to the Capital while Trump was still giving his speech.

Many of the prisoners where arrested to keep them from talking to the media and telling the country what went on at the Capital. That is the only reason they locked them up and refused to give them a court date. Trump pardoned them because as we all suspected, most of them were essentially hostages to a renegade DOJ that refused to enforce the law equally.

I don't see the right complaining of a dictatorship.

You'd better get on that right away. Why are you wasting time complaining on an interweb board?

You’re shilling for Moscow, as most hard core Trumpsters do, these days. Hence your made up claims.

There isn’t a single piece of evidence to support the false claims you’re making about Jan 6th. Nothing,

This nonsense about prisoners being locked up and never given a court date is obviously false.

They were in jail because they were convicted (many pleaded guilty).
