How would you feel if a high school got the ROTC, government class, and debate team to participate in a wargame? The debate team and government class would pretend to be governments who have to stop a genocide and the ROTC would have a flight simulator where they will pretend to conduct military operations.
The debate team and government class would debate and discuss the ethics of war and be the ones to vote on what actions the ROTC would take in the flight simulator whether they would want to limit military operations to protect vulnerable populations or go on a full offensive to either destroy the military of the bad guys or even occupy the bad guy's nation. Of course the game master won't make a military occupation easy. If the ROTC causes too much collateral damage the game will end with a US military pullout.
What would you think of that type of role play? Would it be too controversial? I imagine it would take a lot of time and resources to set up.
