I have this damn numbing pain in my hand over two weeks now making it much weaker, I am also experiencing additional pain in my leg sporadically, had some tingling numbness in the side of my face.

My only relief is some weak tylenol, epsom salt baths and sleeping pills to try and get me through the night.

Any other suggestions for handling pain? I am not big on pharmaceuticals and it is bothering me to be desperate enough to try.

Is it nerve pain?... if it is there is a very safe pain med for it.. called gabapentin... it only takes a small dosage to work
and it also will help you fall asleep and stay asleep...

Gabapentin: Uses, Side Effects, Interactions, Pictures, Warnings & Dosing - WebMD

That requires a prescription though, it does sound effective.
I almost lost my leg and for two years I was in agony due to the operations I had to have... the nerves as you can imagine went nuts and I had severe pain... this at a low dose took my pain away I would say 90%... and if you take two at bedtime it also helps you sleep... its not addictive in my opinion and its not expensive... most insurance plans approve it right away...

It's so bad at times that for the first time in many years I have tried pharmaceuticals such as aspirin, tylenol, back pain pills etc. The sleeping pills have become most necessary because at times numbness and/or pain makes it very uncomfortable to sleep and too often I wake up in the middle of the night due to the pains behind my eye.

Ask your doctor about gabapentin... I hope it gives you relief...
There is also acupuncture... don't discard that as an effective pain treatment... a lot of massage therapist are doing acupuncture today....

I was watching an elderly couple walked into a weed dispenser. Its been legal in Canada I think for 8 or 9 years, these stores are all over and I have never even stepped foot inside. Seeing these elderly people walk gingerly in I was tempted for the first time to just walk in and look around.

When my wife was dealing with some pains after surgery I think she was considering taking such options in edible form. I am resisting as it's not my thing but I do know it is popular with many people, even those who grew up ardently against it.

I'm not philosophically against anything that people use for themselves but I don't want to harm myself in other ways to address this pain which I hope isn't permanent.

Edibles work sometimes but for real pain relief and sleep aide you need to smoke it.... it helped me some and even now when my pain kind of comes back a couple of hits and I'm good... edibles can work but you need to eat a lot of gummies to feel relief and they are not cheap...
Try it... I tried everything when I was hurting... I was desperate... I kind of have an idea what you are going through so good luck to you... pain is no fun to live with and you shouldn't have to...

Sounds like damn stroke. Go see a doctor

I can't take NSaids (aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen etc.) and avoid all narcotic substances except in extreme rare emergencies like immediately after surgery. But I find an extra strength Tylenol (500 mg) or two plus a hemp oil tablet (non narcotic) as anti-inflammatory generally takes care of my pain which can be pretty constant at this stage of my life. Do take care not to exceed 3000 mg Tylenol (acetaminophen) daily though as it can cause severe liver damage.

Do you have a prescription?

Tylenol-3 is a narcotic and not just extra-strength Tylenol or something

I think we can buy them OTC. Actually I am certain we can. It's just tylenol with codeine. It does give one a bit of a buzz which tricks the nerves I suppose.

Don't mess around with suck things. May be a pinched nerve also could be a TIA. A minor stroke. Go see a doctor.

I did and she basically told me she didn't want to get ahead of the neurologist I need to see in a month and a half...

No. Bloody walk in clinics, we are short on doctors for that even, I waited two hours. Sad.
Kinda same way here. I have it a little better than most. My sister is a doctor so I don't do much waiting. Kinda a conflict to have family as a patient but she can pull strings if I need a specialist. My dentist loves me and her daughter is a doctor her other daughter is an optometrist. One cell phone call I get some help in a hurry. Not sure how to play the Canadian game. Here I find female professionals and make them care about me.
