Whatever Happened To That Obamacare Replacement?

Before it was called Obamacare it was just the "conservative" alternative to nationalized health care that Hillary was pushing. It should surprise no one that conservatives haven't come up with an alternative to their own plan.

Seems like it came as a surprise to a lot of rightwingers who swallowed the "repeal-and-replace" bullshit for the better part of a decade. Maybe now they realize the GOP's got nothing.

They bought "repeal and replace" while others bought "you can keep your doctor".

Some.

To me it's absolutely crazy how so many will defend the lies of "their guy".

That's about health plans, not doctors. And the reality is that the ACA grandfathered in any health plan in effect when it was signed.

The number of people who gave up a grandfathered plan, picked a noncompliant plan between the time the law was signed and implemented, then switched to a compliant one when the law took effect was something like a quarter of a percent of the population (mitigated even further by Obama unnecessarily deciding to "grandmother" in the noncompliant plans of people who had willingly switched out of their grandfathered plans).

Expanding coverage to 30 million more Americans was, in fact, good.

No it didn't. People did lose access to their doctors.

Doing absolutely nothing on the cost side because you wanted to keep the money rolling in from the Pharmaceutical and insurance companies was a bad thing.

Yes, it did.

As already noted, relative health care cost growth largely ceased after the ACA passed. Health care is 17.5% of GDP today and was 17.2% of GDP when the ACA passed. There's no comparable 13-year run anywhere in the historical health care cost data. The official predictions just after the ACA passed was that health care would rise to 21% of GDP by the end of the 2010s.

Using GDP is a deceitful way to judge anything. GDP includes all the billions and billions and billions we have printed since then that many have not participated in like others have.

Let's also note, that much of that health care costs since Obamacare has been covered with debt. $31 Trillion and still growing and that debt is going to absolutely crush future generations.

From 2000 to 2010, when the ACA passed, per capita health consumptions expenditures rose from 14.8% of per capita personal income to 19.4%. Last year that number was virtually unchanged from 2010, at 19.6%.

There's only one period in the modern era in which health care costs as a percentage of the economy and incomes essentially just stopped growing for a decade or more, and that's the period since the ACA passed. It's unprecedented.

Can you supply a table or chart ?

It would be good to see all the data so we can draw our own conclusions about what is unprecedented.

In good part because people can not afford to use the coverage they have.

The percentage of plans with a deductible rose from 78 percent in 2010 to 89 percent in 2021.88 The amounts of these deductibles have risen dramatically among firms of all sizes: The average deductible for a single coverage plan nearly doubled in the last decade, from $1,025 in 2010 to $2,004 in 2021.8

It never happened.

It did happen but who's fault was it the doctor's pulled our of their respective contracts with an insurer? The doctor or provider. When you know understand how networks work you never will understand why people lost their provider.

I really don't care for ACA but until people get over this goddamn lie that ACA kicked them out that is simple a fucking lie.

It doesn't matter. With UHC it wouldn't matter. You go to your doctor, you are covered.

We never did see that Obamacare replacement the GOP and then Donald Trump promised us they had. Trump's was "terrific". It was swell. It was the best health care plan ever. You were going to get tired of being so healthy.

While Obama was President, the Republican House partially or fully repealed Obamacare more than 60 times!

And yet, strangely, when they had full control of both houses of Congress, and the White House, there were no more repeals!

Hmmmm...

They had a partial repeal, with no replacement, which passed the House while Trump was president, and Trump held a prematurely ejaculatory celebration on the White House lawn. But then John McCain spoiled the whole thing with a thumbs down since it was all a hoax and did not actually replace Obamacare.

There's a way you can always tell when Trump is lying. He repeats the lie three times. Like this:

“Make no mistake,” (one!) the president said at one point, this is a repeal and a replace of Obamacare, make no mistake (two!) about it. Make no mistake.”(three!)

Since then, the organization formerly known as the Republican Party has failed to cough up a replacement for Obamacare.

You see, folks, if you want to win, you have to have better ideas than your opposition.

That's the key to long term success.

The real evilness is that the GOP told you they did have a better idea. But they didn't. They wanted you to bleev what turned out to be a total hoax.

And you never held them accountable. That's why they lie to you.

You never hold Trump accountable. That's why HE lies to you.

Guess what the number one issue on the minds of Americans is?

Health care costs.

This has been at or near the top of the list for DECADES. And the GOP has come up with NOTHING in all that time.

The organization formerly known as the Republican Party is now the party of, "LOOK! SQUIRREL!"

Nothing but pointless and hateful distractions to keep you from focusing on their total incompetence.

When will you finally, finally, finally start holding them accountable?

Almost everything Trump attempted to do for the American people was thwarted or undermined by the Demwits and RINOs. The anti-Americans had more power in D.C. than even Trump was aware of. In his recent interview with Tucker, he said he'll take over the Presidency in 2024 with a much better understanding.
