It takes more than three days to determine if charges should be filed, and then longer to determine who should be in charge of it. This was not a sudden choice in response to trump's announcement. It was in the works whether trump announced or not.

Unlike Trump, Biden did not attempt to coerce the DoJ into doing things for political purposes. The question for Bondi was quite appropriate given Trump’s history of corruption and malfeasance.
