There were no dhimmis in Palestine. When the Zionists arrived they destroyed generations of peace.
Translation: Damn dhimmis wouldn't be content with their dhimmitude.
Really? Weren't the peasants enraged when they were made equal to infidels, by leveling the taxes to all and calling for conscription?
Really? The Ottomans did not treat non-Muslims any different than Muslims, Jews actually had more rights, they did not have to serve in the military. The millet system was equal for all Ottoman citizens. The Jews were not treated any differently than Christians or Muslims except for their being able to avoid military service if they did not want to serve, and none did. The Jews have always been clever, too clever for their own good actually. The Muslim peasants (and the Christians) may have been upset that Ottoman law forced them to serve in the military but allowed the Jews the privilege not to serve. Could you blame them? What the millet law did state is that the harmed party had the right to have his/her case judged within its millet. So if a Jew or Christian harmed a Muslim, the case would be heard in a Sharia court. Since there were many more Muslims a lot of cases between members of millets were tried under Sharia law. However, if a Jew or Christian was harmed by a Muslim the case would have been tried in the Christian or Jew millet court system.
It was about equal taxes and the way it looks for Sunni Muslims. The Ottomans were happy when money was flowing. However we were talking about Egyptians and Arab Palestinians- those who took the main part in the massacre.
Maybe I'm mistaken but this is what I remember. There also was a "prophet" who called to massacre Jews on a specific date- all at that time.
It were the neighbors - Palestinian Arabs that mascaraed the Jews, then came the Egyptians and did the same once more.
An "all You can loot" celebration, communities were wiped, as the revolt began in the Jewish quarter of Jerusalem.
Scrolls were burned and desecrated, homes and synagogues destroyed.
Power struggles (especially in the ME) always come at the expense of minorities, and we are still one.
