Why do leftists abhor the concept of a meritocracy?

Dispite ignorant proclamations to the contrary, passing along one's wealth is not inconsistent with a meritocracy. Whoever said that a meritocracy cannot work without supplanting the foundation of modern society: the family? That's just utter nonsense.
Why do you hate America?

America was founded on the notion that all are created equal. Meritocracy negates that. You seem to forget that merit could mean religious brownie points, not just good grades or whatever is bouncing around in your beady little mind.

In some cases merit is a good measuring stick. In others, not so much.

Some might argue that leftism and a meritocracy are mutually exclusive ideals, but that is not really the case. There may be conflicting elements that need to be balanced, but by and large the two could definitely coexist. Yet for some reason leftists dismiss the meritocracy concept out of hand at best, and view it as an absolute evil at worst. And I just don't understand why.

Why do leftists abhor the concept of a meritocracy?

Maybe 'cause we likes to votes on who leads us...:doubt:

No, "all are created equal" refers to status before the law. The Founders, many products of hereditary wealth themselves, did not believe everyone is exactly the same. That is the Dems' view, hobbling the talented and coddling the incompetent.

I don't. That's just a shamefully pedestrian attempt to troll. Please try harder.

America was founded on the notion that all are created equal. Meritocracy negates that.

Being created equal has nothing to do with the relative merit achieved via the choices one makes given this wonderful gift of liberty and equality. Your attempt to imply otherwise betrays your partisan motivation.

You seem to forget that merit could mean religious brownie points, not just good grades or whatever is bouncing around in your beady little mind.

Constructing strawman arguments also betrays your partisan motivation.

I'd ask you to provide an example or three of 'not so much', but given your obvious partisan motivation here, I doubt it would be a particularly fruitful exploration of the idea.

But whatcha gonna do? :dunno:

According or Riva's strawman characterization of 'all created equal', the founders intended this country to be pure socialism.

Clearly she has nothing to offer an honest intellectual exploration of the idea, and she's merely here on a partisan errand to obfuscate, malign and undermine.

But whatcha gonna do? :dunno:

This is partially right. Liberals at the time thought white europeans were superior to the rest of humanity. So did Conservatives at the time. The difference is that Liberals changed their viewpoint overtime and grew. Conservatives did not.

No, that isn't what I mean at all. But I expect you know that.

No, it doesn't. You're confusing equality of opportunity with equality of outcome.

We all start the race at the same starting line. In a meritocracy, the fastest runner wins.

Leftists want everyone to arrive at the finish line at the same time.

That's close but I think in all likelihood they didn't really consider non-white Europeans as fully human. Savages, slaves, etc.

Yes it was. You just didn't intend for it to be so obvious. But I know you know that.

I don't know about "Leftists" but Liberals understand that their are various skillsets that are valuable in any given society.

The fastest runner probably couldn't kick the ass of the best boxer.

Stupidly wrong.

Well no.

And that's another thing..Liberals will see a flaw in their logic and work to improve that.

Conservatives never see fault in themselves.

Never.

Right Davey?

Virtyually all of your posts are a glaring refutation of this one post.
