Why the left is a hypocrite on the tariffs issues

Not so funny when you consider the fact that the black market is a pretty big place.
The black market isn't going to be an alternative to tariffs. General non-specific tariffs will just raise the cost of goods and taxes paid on them by the people whose country implements them.

Bitcoin will help.

Anonymous money transfers. Black market, etc...
Yeah, bitcoin is a place where thieves live. Our economy isn't based on it.

Hell, none of you maga fuckups can even explain what it is.

Most people just don't want to see all the prices go up, feeling abused enough, knowing it is the end consumer that pays the tariff in the form of higher prices, and concerned Donny will tank the economy.

Walmart just checked with its Chinese supplies this week and asked all of them to swallow the tariff rather than to pass the cost on. Considering the size of the purchases that Walmart makes from China those vendors may very well have to consider that.

Lefty proclaims himself to be the champion of the working class man. But it seems his championship only extends to those things which directly benefit him politically.

Tariffs are really a statement between two economies comparing the condition of the working class in those respective countries.

Most people don't realize that importing cheap Chinese goods comes along with the added poison of importing Chinese poverty also.

To avoid that effect a tariff helps to balance out that disparities between the two working groups but the pressure to buy cheaply is great especially for low income.

Quietly nodding to the purchase of cheap goods really means that you're supporting slave labor on another continent. I'm guilty of it. I've been a Walmart shopper for a long time and I kind of know what I'm doing when I'm doing it.

I make an effort to buy things locally and yes They are more expensive, especially furniture.

I haven't yet weaned myself off of the cheap Chinese goods but I continue to remind myself that every time I partake of that temptation I'm taking another piece out of a good hard working American economy and contributing to the slave labor of China.

Tariffs help to curb that activity.

Why would anybody be happy about slave labor?

Traditionally Republicans have been blamed for taking advantage of the working class by paying low wages. This has always been a Democratic talking point.

What happened to the Democrats on the issue of Chinese slave labor? How many Democrats own iPhones? Probably most of them.

Just saying.

Jo
Tariffs make imported goods more expensive but will also make good produced in the US more expensive. If US companies don't have to compete with foreign goods they will have little incentive to be more productive. Tariffs are like heroin. I also doubt the US companies will share the benefits of the tariffs with their workers and not their stockholders.

Doesn't explain the tariffs against Canada, does it?

And the EU proved what a free trade zone can do. Countries who joined in 2004 are now rich countries. The UK left, and is getting poorer by the day.

Mostly the UAW pushing that

Well, I'm sure they've been pushing tariffs for a hundred years.

So why is Trump doing it?

Because he's an idiot and thinks he understands economics?
Because he's an idiot and thinks he understand current US trade?
Because he only has 4 years and doesn't give a damn about the country?
