In essence, that's what Americans have done.
Be it the Consumer or Corporations seeking "lower Prices for Manufacturing", Americans have flocked to China and shipped the majority of our manufacturing capacity to China in exchange for lower prices.
The Chinese Communists aren't riddled with political red tape. They don't have to offer any "benefits" to employees. Their people are their disposable assets, to be used as best suits the Communist government.
A couple things come to mind....old adages....
"You never get something worth having for free".
Meaning the money you saved on the goods you bought from China came at the price of your freedom or your future generations freedom since it financed the rise of China to a powerful nation seeking Global domination.....and absolutely ZERO concern for that silly annoyance called Human Rights.
"If it seems too good to be true"
Cheap Cheap goods.....at low low prices. But it cost America it's manufacturing sector. Now whatever we need we are stuck sucking on the Chinese tit to get it.
Many Americans are now howling because we have a President who sees the danger in this ongoing strategy.
Already many are outraged that tariffs have been put in place that "might" cost them a few pennies more due to their addiction to Chinese goods. They couldn't care less about the oppression it will eventually lead to. They couldn't care less. Freedom isn't necessary.....but a new iPad IS !!!! Kicking the can down the road for the love of material things.
We are in caught in a trap that will eventually cost us dearly and the Price to get out of said trap increases exponentially every year. We are witnessing several of the most reckless, irresponsible, uncaring, ignorant and self-defeating generations of Americans in American history.
China is now run by a ruthless power grabber. So is Russia. So is Venezuela.
China's technological prowess is soon to eclipse that of the USA. They are focused on developing the worlds most advanced (and largest military force). They will use that power against us someday soon. We are naively paying for and assisting it all.
I say we are setting ourselves up for a FAR greater pain than higher prices on goods if we don't realize the mistake we have made and resolve to endure the severe pain of putting the ship back on course now.
