Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) attempted to criticize the handling of the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan by saying that "America doesn't leave Americans behind." For that, he was quickly reminded of how he fled for Cancun during a weather emergency in his state.

Cruz quote tweeted a video from CNN that was shared by the Republican National Committee late on Monday night. In the video, a reporter speaks about a Texas family who had "been going to the airport for two weeks" trying to get out of the country.

In response to the video, Cruz tweeted: "This is horrifying. And wrong. America doesn't leave Americans behind."

The Texas senator was immediately mocked for the tweet, with people online bringing up his trip to Cancun during a massive winter storm in Texas earlier this year.

Amid the backlash he received after being spotted in an airport on the way to Cancun, Cruz released a statement saying that he was accompanying his children for a trip they were taking with their friends.

All of this was brought up again in the wake of Cruz's tweet on Monday night, with "Cancun" trending on Twitter.

"True, but also… remember Cancun? Texans do. #Hypocrisy," RAICES Texas tweeted.

"Bold words from a man who left all the Americans in his state behind to vacation in Cancun," another user added.

What an idiot, see folks this is the face of stupidity in this country.

Clowns like Ted Snooze were quiet as a church mouse when Trump was moving troops out of Afghanistan. So he was trying to get a few brownie points and stepped on his d!(k.

You do know you can't leave people behind if they are already at home don't you?

He got up and left when his state was in shambles. Party affiliation means nothing here. In that case the trip should have been cancelled.

When Biden said we don't leave anyone behind, he was talking about the Mexicans and Salvadorians invading our southern border. Biden is obviously more concerned with getting them all into our country than he is about rescuing Americans and allies stranded in Afghanistan.

The good news is that he has worked hard to sort out the problems in Texas and he will never have to run away from the weather in Texas again. Maybe ?

Wow really bad low IQ analogy. Cruz isn't a state employee that works in any sort of emergency response, doesn't work for the power company etc.

You really have to wonder about the education level of some people.
I do not remember anyone hanging off the landing gear of planes in Texas. I do not remember anyone worried that a group of fighters like the Taliban were going to take over anywhere and murder people.
Cruz went on a vacation. Pelosi suggested people go out into the streets and join together unprotected during an epidemic. She also went to a hairdresser that was closed because of a city law. Wondered around mask free. So you want to play blame game and compare two things let’s actually compare something that is even close to alike. Pelosi takes the cake as worse. Cruz comes out ahead.

Well all I can say is he left himself wide open for that one. He should know from here on out he's never going to get out from underneath that.

Cruz represents 20 million Texans who were without heat

Ted Cruz if true will be a great president. And if Trump is true, needs to support him and help him as Republicans as Presidents have 95% of the media and entertainers against them if outsiders. The question is...is Cruz an outsider or part of the swamp along with Trump. The deal has to be made for Repubs. As of now...Trump, Cruz, DeSantis to start in 2024.
