15 killed across Chicago

Fifteen people were reported killed in Chicago in the past week, according to a RedEye analysis of preliminary police data.

Victims included two 15-year-old boys shot to death within a day of each other in the North Lawndale community. Other gunshot homicides were reported in Chicago Lawn, Bridgeport, O’Hare, Grand Boulevard, Austin, Englewood, New City, Uptown, Chatham and East Garfield Park.

Also in Uptown, a man was stabbed to death outside a Target store on Sunday. The day before, a man was found beaten to death and set on fire in Brighton Park.

So far this year through Wednesday night, Chicago has seen 197 homicides, according to RedEye records. That strongly outpaces last year, when 171 killings were reported through June 17.

Twenty-seven homicides have been reported so far this month. In June 2014, 40 homicides were reported.
