the new outside magazine covers the investigation into what went wrong with the 19 hotshots that died....the deaths were a shock to the whole country but hit the high country hard with the death of eric marsh the hotshot leader...and now they are placing the blame on eric's decisions...i know they have to investigate and see what went wrong.....the article is informative and terrifying at the same time..basically once they 'deploy' or use the tents...they know they will most likely die a horrible death....it is a sad article explaining why the whole thing went so terribly wrong...one can only hope the marsh family can find some peace...

and they lessons can be learned that may save others down the road

i am so sorry....i reread the article.....i see my misreading....i was extremely tired last night and misread this...

"since using the shelters in the 1960s, and only 22 have died."

last night i read that as only 22 had lived....i see my mistake

is the online article the exact same as the magazine?

the area knew they had investigated and said eric made a bad call.....it did not come as much as a surprise as a shock....i think it is the first time it has been laid out so well...i will give outside that...
