2018 Is Looking Better and Better for Republicans

I live in a safe Republican district so we'll most certainly send Andy Biggs back to Washington. Most interesting race here will be the Republican primary for Jeff Flake's senate seat.

As for the article linked to in the OP, I think the Democrats would be even bigger fools to switch the message to the economy. My hunch is that the only thing they have a chance to bank on is trying to bring out to vote an overwhelming number of women interested in the "me too" story, DACA, and gun control.

"But the people might just be fed up enough with Trump and his shenannigans" What shenanigans, you mean keeping his campaign promises?

"Here's a sign you guys have a problem. So many of your guys are retiring."
Yeah Deep State RINOs can't have their way anymore. Good riddance.

Yeah, okay, that you used words like "Deep State" and "RINO" to describe republican stalwarts shows how crazy your side has gotten.

I’m optimistic but we can’t assume anything. We need to get out and work

All it's going to take is conservatives and independents to get out and vote for those opposed to socialism and progressive candidates. This has to be a presidential year turnout to overcome the $$$$ being put up by Soros and his ilk.

Just wait until Tax Day rolls around and even more workers realize they have hundreds of dollars in extra income to inject back into the economy.

It’s no wonder even the left-wing Priorities USA claims Democrat messaging “must change.” Unless Lamb and other Democrats heed that advice, they’ll be swept away by the Trump economy.

Be realistic:
The Republicrats will be VERY lucky if they don't lose control of the HoR, it's the nature of the pendulum and first term Presidents and their mid-terms. As far as the Senate goes the GOP has a tremendous advantage on the map, so they're probably pretty safe as long as they don't go off the deep end.

Of course given the fact that the Demopublicans don't have anything on their campaign slate right now other than "Trump Sucks" and "Tax Cuts are Bad", they might just blow their golden opportunity to take back the HoR.:dunno:

... and "Tax Day" 2018 doesn't mean anything since it's for tax year 2017 which isn't affected by Tax Reform.

Because of President Trump, we no longer have "Politics as usual." He's changed the rules and the DimocRATs are going to be the losers. :clap2::clap2:

This kind of mindless baseless cheerleading has no place in this forum.
:lame2:

IMHO. The primaries will be the key to 2018 mid-terms. If the Dems go the way they seem to be, nominating far-left candidates, they will activate a lot of people from both parties to vote for any common sense Republican.

Yes, a lot of GOP types from both the House and Senate have said they won't run for reelection. That opens the door for a lot of "outsiders" who will follow the example set by President Trump. They will be forced by election rules to register as party types but will not follow the party line. And, I think it will come from both sides and in both parties.

What that will mean is that the newcomers will vote the likes of Pelosi and Schumer from their positions, selecting more "reasonable" types in both houses.

um, actually, no. You don't do well in midterms with a 39% approval rating.

It just doesn't happen.

Much as I have to agree with Fox, the Dems are probably well positioned for the House, but they have a tougher road to hoe in the Senate merely because almost no GOP seats are up this cycle (Because Dems did well in 2006 and 2012).

But the people might just be fed up enough with Trump and his shenannigans to change that.

Here's a sign you guys have a problem. So many of your guys are retiring.
/——/ Rassmussen has Trump at 50%. Go pound sand with your fake news polls of 350 random adults.

Yeah Deep State RINOs can't have their way anymore. Good riddance.

The trouble is that large swaths of voters voted for him because of he was not Clinton, not because of his agenda. Trump's negatives are underwater on nearly every issue. At best he breaks pretty much even on only a couple of issues.

There is no Deep State. Many of those districts they are retiring from are suburban districts. Run a Trump sycophant in them and they will get clobbered.

There are several things they could look at.
1. Reforming the Republican tax reform plan. Closing loopholes that benefit the rich such as the carried interest deduction. I could see a ad quoting Trump as saying the carried interest deduction and Democrats promising to get rid of it. Other topics could be deductions for state and local taxes.

2. Republican overreach on deregulation. Some of the regulations that have been reversed are defensible. Some are not. Net neutrality could be a major issue because it can be boiled into a simple slogan.

3. This will be partially a referendum on Trump. Trump is extremely unpopular among women.

4. I will agree that DACA will be a issue especially in suburban districts. The Republicans will be successfully attacked for kow-towing to white supremacists.

5. Gun control could be a issue especially if Republicans stonewall on simple ideas like banning gun stocks and raising the age limits for owning rifles to 21 when the age limit for owning a handgun is 21.

No, but he can certainly manage the response to them.

You know, more than just throwing paper towels at people.

The mere fact that a district Trump won by 19 points is a toss up should be cause for concern. The RNCC has had to inject over a million dollars into the PA-18th and the super PAC, Congressional Leadership Fund, has had to inject more than two million. If one were to hear any ads for Saccone, you would think he is running aganist Pelosi. I still think Saccone is going to win, but make no mistake, he is just another pandering/lip service politician.
