Nice, but you conveniently left out how women are treated by Muslim men. If you knew that God created all of us in His image, and He made woman especially for carrying out His Plan of Salvation, women would be regarded with respect and not beat, tortured, and killed because the men do not know how to treat a woman. We were to bring souls into this world so that they may be tested as we are. We do not create an army to have them sacrifice their lives for some religion that does not even relate to a God. No, Islam is an evil religion or political system that real women would reject. Your women are beat down and are so abused that they either give in or willingly die. But they do not have genuine love for their husbands. Fear is not love.

I found that the degradation of women in these other countries is cultural,
and then it is projected and expressed through the laws, traditions, religion etc.
(So YES there is a major problem and danger to women in countries that
don't respect equal civil rights in their political culture and govt. this is very real,
but it is cultural and political first, and that attitude is projected through religion especially political religions that take over govt in these countries.)

And the SEXISM against women is so universal to all cultures
that even WOMEN discriminate against women. The common factor I have found
in Latin cultures, in Asian, and American is expecting the women to be "helpmeets" secondary to the man.
Some see this as a "social role," where women are conditioned to be caretakers of children, family and whole groups,
multitasking like secretaries while men take roles of being in charge of one dept or head of a group while others serve as assistants.
Some see this as a "spiritual role" where women are designed to be different from men.

This isn't unique to any one culture; once the patriarchal phase developed it seems fairly universal.
I had another post on this, where I found 3 different interpretations of when this class division developed putting men above women:
1. economically when meat gatherers were worshipped and valued more than crop and field workers (ie men above women
and management class above manual laborers)
2. politically when controlling inheritance of property by family name, the patriarchal culture took over to wipe out
the matriarchal cultures where power and property used to be passed down the female side of the family from mothers to daughters
(presumably the marriage laws treating women and children as property of the estate
and controlling fidelity was so men could control their lineage by knowing who their children were
3. spiritually, the matriarchal and patriarchal phases being part of process of
moving from one extreme to the other until balance is reached and harmony restored.

When I spoke with the Muslim men that I know, the common factor among them
is RESPECT for women, wives and mothers. The Nation of Islam teaches that
mothers come before fathers, as even in the Ten Commandments the mother is first.

So this must be based on upbringing, that if these men all happen to be brought up
with families that put the mother first, and they were all brought up respecting their mothers,

female relatives and----then to all women. It works like this-----THE MOTHER has great power over the son-------and thru that power has power over HIS WIFE. A woman GAINS power by giving birth to a son but not so by giving birth to a daughter. THUS the mother of a son has an interest in PERPETUATING the
"SON HAS THE POWER" custom. I have seen it up close to some extent in
Hindu families but FAR MORE in muslim families in which mothers and brothers do NOTHING to protect their own daughters and sisters in case of MARITAL problems----which abound in ALL CULTURES

Yes irosie91 it is so engrained the Bahai actually teach to invest in your daughters' education before your sons for the sake of social justice and peace.

I saw a post recently on social media that the violence and genocide targeting women has escalated to the point where
the population gap between the genders has flipped, and there are more men than women.

I heard on the news that the life expectancy and longevity rates of women that used to exceed men has decreased by 5 years.

This is not just a problem in India/Pakistani or Muslim countries where the Islamist Shariah principles have been embedded by force of law into govt.
But that is the most pronounced and visible in the media because the more violent oppression makes the news!

The silent oppression is more widespread but taken for granted and not newsworthy. Just the norm in a lot of cultures.
The Mexican "Machismo" attitude has drawn attention due to violence and drunk driving incidents.
The Asian men can be just as sexist oppressive and domineering, but people expect Asian parents to be authoritarian and tough.

It's not always easy to identify the cultural or social source of these trends and patterns.
The better focus may be to try to take the Strong points and advantages of each
while trying to correct the problems that these cause on the flipside. Every weakness can be a strength, every strength a weakness.

We are seeing the worst side of Islam where the Muslims who are too passive and don't fight back
in defense as Christians will do, are seen as part of the problem by not confronting and checking their own.

By faith in civil obedience to local authority, they depend on military and govt to intervene and stop criminal and violent offenses especially in war.
So what happens when the govt and military get hijacked by terrorists, the peaceful civil Muslims have no authority to respond or turn to and are
helpless victims. So this extreme of being peaceful and not political lends itself to the other extreme taking over without check.
same with the Buddhists who become so passive that this enables corruption and abuse because of 'too much tolerance."
