American captain, engineer kidnapped by pirates off coast of Nigeria

Pirates have attacked a US-flagged oil platform supply vessel off the coast of Nigeria and kidnapped the captain and chief engineer, who are both Americans.

The attack on the C-Retriever ship, which is owned by Louisiana-based Edison Chouest Offshore, happened early Wednesday, UK-based security firm AKE and two security sources told Reuters.

Fox news reported that two Sailors were kidnapped off the shore of Nigeria on a commercial boat. I assume this is the same report.

Nigerians bombard terror camps, kill 74 insurgents
Oct 25,`13 -- Nigeria's military says an air bombardment and ground assault have destroyed two "terrorist camps" and killed 74 insurgents in an ongoing campaign against an Islamic uprising in the country's northeast.

Spokesman Lt. Col. Muhammad Dole said Friday that two soldiers and several insurgents also were wounded in the joint army and air force attack Thursday on two extremist hideouts in Borno state.

Also Friday in neighboring Yobe state, suspected Islamic extremists besieged the capital, Damaturu, and the military declared a 24-hour curfew that kept fearful residents at home behind locked doors.

A police officer said the attack began around 6 p.m. Thursday on a police anti-terrorist squad residence and moved to the mobile police base and police commander's office, which both were razed. He spoke on condition of anonymity.

What happened was that obama did nothing. He was paralyzed by inaction until Frank Castellano, Captain of the Bainbridge invoked an archaic law of the sea authorizing action when the opportunity arises. As field commander, he ordered the Seals to effect rescue. After that, obama took credit, by saying he had given prior authorization. obama claimed to have said "if you get a shot, take it". Of course we only know this after the fact, when the regime was under the "coulda shoulda" effect.
