Contrary to what the Marxists want people to believe, both Socialism and Communism existed before old Karl the Bum started his mad scribblings. He and his movement simply tried to hijack all of it and claim that he created it all, and it could never exist without his writings and beliefs. However, not all Socialists believe that, and Eric was one of them.

Both Socialism and Communism were concepts dating back to before the French Revolution. However, Karl hijacked all of that, and tried to claim it was all his own invention. Which in over a century since then his moron believers have repeated over and over and ignored the actual facts. Marx no more created "Communism" than the United States invented "Democracy" or the "Republic". However, the US never tried to insist it invented them, unlike Marxists which insist that Karl created everything and perfected it.

But do not confuse the Socialists of the early 20th century with those of today. I think even they would reject most of what their movement has turned into, which is more akin to creating permanent classes based solely upon how much they can take from their government as opposed to trying to make things better themselves.

You're very well read on the subject. I appreciate that. So many people believe marx was the father of collectivist "thought" but the first British colonies attempted collectivism and it failed. That was back around the 1600's.

The problem is that none of our youth will learn that when no one is teaching them the facts.

That is actually one of my favorite "Trick Questions" to show people how little they understand history.

I will ask how many the Senator blacklisted from Hollywood, and they always respond with hundreds. I then point out that was the House Un-American Activities Committee, and that as should be obvious, Joe was a Senator and not involved in that at all. Oh, and the House was firmly in the hands of and the HUAC was led by prominent Democrats. But somehow, Tailgunner Joe still gets all the backlash even decades later. For something he was never a part of.

Kinda like my other favorite question, challenging them to give me a dollar amount to how much was lost in the Stock Market Crash of 1929. And most simply can not believe that no money was actually lost.

Marx fascinates me, but I also detest him. But his mental illness is still infecting people over 100 years later.

Heck, I even find it fascinating that he and President Lincoln were "pen-pals". Most have almost no idea how far to the Left the Republican Party was in that era, and that old Karl was not always completely off the rails. I can agree with much of what he wrote, but then when he comes to his scribblings of "class warfare" and "destroying the current system", I outright reject him and his writings. Nothing is ever built from destruction other than more destruction.

I figured as much, I have a lot of books, I would love to have a lot more, and to have that many books would be pretty outrageous.

I am actually big on research, and always go in looking for the facts, not just facts to back up my beliefs.

And as such, my "Google-fu" is strong, including image search.

But yes, he is one I largely dismiss because he never backs his claims with anything, simply makes the same statements over and over again with nothing to back them up.
