And out comes stupid!

A state senator says he doesn't think access to contraception is a problem in Alaska.

In a floor speech, Republican Sen. Fred Dyson said he researched the issue after a colleague suggested the number of abortions could be reduced by improving access to contraception.

The issue of the state providing expanded family planning services has arisen during discussion on a bill that would further define when the state would pay for abortions under Medicaid.

Dyson says condoms cost a dollar apiece and for the price of four or five lattes, a woman could get birth control pills for a month.

Dyson says sexual activity is largely "recreation" and the public shouldn't be required to finance "other people's recreation."

So there you have it...

Birth control pills are unnecessary. If you guys want "recreational sex" you have to buy the rubbers.

So much for Republicans avoiding saying stupid things.

Please explain...

Unless you're stating that 100% of the parental responsibility belongs solely with the father because he refused to use a condom...or there was a hole in it.

That means he's solely responsible for all care and upbringing of the child until it turns 18.

Or pay for an abortion.

Another option? No sex until you're married and want to have children. Period. No jacking off, no nothing.

Which do you prefer?

oh and if you need an abortion that means you didnt practice safer sex; as in using a condom. condoms are like 90% effective

You don't read well do you?

The issue isn't "restricted access" to contraception....it is people being to lazy to take responsibility to GAIN access to it.

Finally some common sense! If those women want birth control that badly, skip the lattes.

"Recreational sex"? Is there any other kind?

Look at the end result, the lack of birth control means more abortions or more costs for the government to support unwanted children. Some women are willing to take the chance on an unwanted pregnancy. When they lose, we all lose.
