I guess the landlord could evict the tenant just like in modern times if the rent is not paid or the property was being destroyed.

Istanbul, Oct 3 (Prensa Latina)Turkish archaeologists have discovered an ancient tablet in the ancient Greek city of Teos.

The tablet is believed to be the most extensive of its kind found in Turkey, and could determined the social administrative and religious staructure of the city in the historic period and it also includes many details about the land, its owners, tenants and punishment for failure to comply with its terms.

Professor of the University of Akdeniz Mustapha Adak, said that the lease had 58 lines and contained the history of the property that was rented.

The lease tablet, which is 1.5 meters in length, has extensive details about a piece of land property in Teos.
