I don't agree with that thinking, but yes.. it's original sin but that wasn't doctrine until the 3rd century.

You have it reversed. The Catholic Catechism says differently. It specifically references God's everlasting Covenant with the Jews. It also notes that Protestants, even if imperfectly, remain part of the Body of Christ. It is some Protestants who claim Catholics are doomed, but that does not disturb us in the least.

Where did you come up with that? Original sin has nothing to do with sex, it is merely the propensity for human transgressions and disobedience. The Immaculate Conception is that Mary was not bothered by this original sin. It had nothing to do with sex between her parents.

That being said, the Catholic Church does teach that sex outside of marriage is a sin. Within marriage it is meant to be glorious, not sinful. Mary's parents (Joachim and Hannah) were married, engaging in the glory of sex--unless Jews of that time saw it differently?

I agree. But, the thinking seems to be that original sin is the result of Adam and Eve disobeying God and eating the forbidden fruit. Mary was spared that taint so she is the immaculate conception.
