I'm kind of shocked that people really don't know what they are or what they protect.

Do people seriously not know when they are considered under arrest?

It doesn't surprise me at all to see the brain rotted librul left in a video willingly signing away their rights because "Obama" said so. The government school system has done a bag up job on indoctrination and little in true education. We have a seriously dumb populace who don't even know what The Bill of Rights are. Hell, most- both parties, can't tell you who the Speaker is or what he does.. which House the Speaker presides over, etc etc.. No one cares any longer.. just give them free shit.. ZOMBIE AMERIKA.

It literally floors me that someone would not know that just because they don't say you're under arrest that doesn't mean you are free to go when you are escorted to the police station, wearing handcuffs, and in the back of the squad car. People say GZ wasn't arrested the night of the shooting. I say know your damn rights.

The problem is the police really don't care what you think your rights are anymore. They're all about shaved heads and intimidation. They're out of control. God forbid you be in "contempt of cop". They don't like people who ask questions.

There of course some dicks, but where I live if you are respectful you will be treated with respect. The way I look at it is I wouldn't want a job where I had to wear a gun to work everyday. I will preface that with I graduated high school with several people that are now cops. I just am up front with them and tell them that when you have my driver's license in your hand I assume that I am under arrest, and I won't answer any questions.

You’re easily shocked.

A bigger problem is many people have no idea that no right is absolute, and the state has the authority to enact reasonable restrictions.

A bigger problem is thinking no right is absolute. Quite interesting...

It's obvious to me that no disrespect should be shown, but respect is earned and from experience I consider all cops to be vile until proven otherwise. It's a self defense mechanism born from years of bad experiences with bent cops.

It is obvious that all cops aren't scumbags, but at what point did they decide that shaving their heads was a good idea?

And the biggest problem is people like you who think what is in your avatar is nothing more than a piece of toilet paper.

I understand that. I live a little differently. I give respect to everyone, but trust must be earned.

No. People really arent aware of their Constitutional rights.

I have tons of clients who don't seem to understand they dont have to give statements to the police and the police would have no case against them if they hadn't foolishly done so.

I had a client the other day who tried to claim that his 4th amendments were violated because the police executed a lawful search warrant. He just couldn't figure out that the 4th amendment only protects against search and seizure if there is no warrant or probable cause.

This seems crazy to me! How could you not know these things?

The public school system is screwed up. I thought mine was bad, but the ones in the inner city are absolutely worse. I've friends who have taught there and it's a mad house. Parents dont teach their children to respect teachers and then get mad at the teachers when their children don't learn anything, or worse end up in Juvie for assaulting fellow students or teachers.

If I didn't educate myself I know I'd be much more ignorant of the Constitution.

When our rights are constantly being 'reinterpreted' out from under us by our leaders, how are we supposed to keep track of what they are?

People even think that government creates rights lolol. It amazes me how our ancestors, without computers, mass printed books, very little newspapers, etc, were more educated than us.

What I find amusing is that many of the people who claim to be big lovers of the Constitution frequently reveal oceans of ignorance about it, and our history, in the posts they make.

Flag pins and bumper stickers do not a Constitutional lover make.
