We can see the deletions on the spike of porcine coronaviruses that cause diarrhea: PEDV (Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea Virus). There is at least one corresponding deletion at that location, for human HCoV-229E virus. Therefore, we suspect that the deliberate seeding or “escape” happened well before previously thought. They were analyzing inquiries on the internet form the people of Wuhan who were trying to find out about diarrhea:
