Beggars want to unionize!

They're not beggars. They're performers who provide a service to tourists like posing with them for pictures. May not be a critically needed service but it's a service nonetheless. And because the city seems to be interferring with business, looking into organizing is perfectly sensible.

If this were rank and file panhandlers you'd have a case. As it is, you do not.

Who do they work for? Who is to provide union benefits? The city is dealing with the street performers attacking the tourists. Or is there a union right to attack tourists who don't want to give the beggars any money.
