In general yes but I am not sure how we would have addressed the segregation after slavery. There was a very real and present danger of creating an underclass in this nation that would have eventually tore the country apart.

I completely agree. I think the important part of your statements are that such protections should – at some point – actually go away because they are no longer necessary.

Let us not forget this is the same Governor that signed onto Obamacare and agreed to expand Medicaid and put an additional 300,000 residents on government’s free cheese wagon which hard working taxpayers are having their paycheck confiscated to fund.
