I think he is talking on a more philosophical meaning! A weapon is only a weapon when used that way. If all were to follow christian tenants like do not kill the instruments are only tools! I am sure he is very aware that a good percentage of the bible deals with how war was to be waged. One must remember that from the churches point of veiw if their religion was followed to the letter there would be no war! Gods word would bring paradise on earth!
