An Ohio middle school student who killed himself in a school bathroom had planned to imitate the 1999 Columbine High School shooting that left 15 dead, police said Thursday.

Keith Simons, 13, fatally shot himself in the bathroom of Jackson Memorial Middle School after he changed his mind about committing a school shooting.

Simons had a deep “admiration” for Columbine shooters Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, according to records found on his phone.

As a proud graduate of Central Michigan University, I was APPALLED to see what happened there this morning....this animal murdered his parents picking him up for Spring break...Goes to show you can take the kid out of the hood but not the hood out of the kid. Hopefully he'll be shot dead when they find him....little reason to warehouse him for the next 50 years.

Initially, there was a report that a shot was heard, but DISD spokeswoman Robyn Harris tells us no weapon was found.

Bellwood police officer, wife killed in Central Michigan University shooting; suspect still at large

Illinois State Rep. Rep. Emanuel Chris Welch says the victims of the shooting are Bellwood Police Officer James Davis Sr. and his wife.

The Detroit Free Press reports that the officer and his wife were the parents of the suspected gunman. Police would not confirm this association.
