Breaking News. Plane crash in DC. Collided with either helicopter or drone over Potomac.

Okay, fair enough. This was a less experienced pilot who was doing a qualifying flight with an instructor and a technical support NCO.

The problem is, of course, is that all the branches are having a hard time recruiting and retaining personnel.

Well, you are leaving a few points out.

The first was that the instruments showed her in her flight zone... This might be a case of instrument failure.

And who decided it was a good idea to wear night vision goggles in the area approaching the landing zone in a very busy airport, that impedes vision?
The supervisor allowed a sick employee to go home. A sick employee can't do his job to efficiency and might spread diseases to the rest of the team. The days of "toughing out a cold" went out with Covid.
And the government doesn’t have a contingency plan for when a person in a life-or-death position is sick? Just understaff the place?

ATC are 85% male and 75% white.
So what?

So what?
How many Blackhawks have you flown?

Until Trump can get the woke DEI policies out of the military and we select base solely on who is the most competent, I’m not flying at night.

The airlines are relieved.

Could you imagine Karen558 as an airline passenger?

Here's the problem with your DEI complaints. The military isn't making its recruiting numbers now, even with DEI. Women and minorities aren't signing up. It's bad enough that only about 27% of people in the desired age group even QUALIFY to enlist. The fact is, with perpetual wars and much better opportunities in the private sector, a lot just don't want to.

When they took a poll of young people and why they aren't signing up. "Death and Injury" were cited as reasons by the vast majority of them.

11% of them said lack of opportunities for women and minorities.

Only 5% cited "woke" policies.

News flash, Lisa, the military has been "Woke" since I was in back in the 1980s. You kind of have to be if you are going to have people from all these different backgrounds working together and living together in close proximity.

But by all means, keep slamming the people who sign up, you stupid witch.

Actually, most ATC stations are understaffed.... 285 out of 313 across the nation.

Gee, now, if only some asshole back in the 1980's hadn't fired all the Air Traffic Controllers and made it a less desirable job.

More than 90 percent of the country’s 313 air traffic control facilities operate below the Federal Aviation Administration’s recommended staffing levels, according to an analysis of staffing data from the union representing controllers obtained by The New York Times.

As of earlier this month, 285 facilities — which include traffic control towers and other locations — were below staffing thresholds set by the F.A.A. and the union. At 73 of those facilities, staffing is so low that at least a quarter of the work force is missing.

But, hey, let's make those jobs even less appealing by discriminating against women and minorities, that ought to fix things!!!

Um, the person who set up the mission parameters. They weren't just flying at nigh for funsies. They were flying to simulate a particular scenario of having to evacuate government officials in the case of a national emergency... which could well happen at night in the DC area.

It wasn't just about "flying the helicopter", it was about flying the helicopter in that area at night.

So kind of pokes a hole in your, "They are hiring too many unqualified black women" theory, which you seem to think is the cause of all your misery in life.

Well, you believe what you hear on Fox News.

The reality is the military keeps cutting the qualification levels, and keeps cutting the numbers, and they STILL miss their goals.

The U.S. Army is at its smallest size since pre-World War II after being one of three major military services to miss recruiting goals last year.

The Army has failed to meet its recruiting goals for the last two years and missed its 2023 target by 10,000 soldiers, a 20% shortfall, Vox reported.

The active-duty Army currently has 445,000 soldiers, 41,000 fewer than in 2021, and the smallest it has been since 1940.

You didn't read the second link that you deleted from the quote box.

I thought Obama's DEI policy he instituted fixed all that. So what happened?
This was a less experienced pilot who was doing a qualifying flight with an instructor and a technical support NCO.
You said she was qualified..........and experienced.
The first was that the instruments showed her in her flight zone... This might be a case of instrument failure.
That's funny, I haven't heard of a NTSB determination regarding that.
The supervisor allowed a sick employee to go home.
What does that have to do with anything, happens everyday on many jobs.
ATC are 85% male and 75% white.
I don't know why this matters. You ever stop and think other races don't want to be an ATC?

Obama's policy was fine. We had no crashes like this when he was in charge.

What was it, 60 some dead?

So we need to send flowers to the enemy and do a latte? Are they admitting they wouldn't fight for their country?

That's not unusual. They operate safely with reduced staffing, the system has built in redundancies. If staffing levels are endangering safe operation, the tower is closed...by law.

Gee, now, if only some asshole back in the 1980's hadn't fired all the Air Traffic Controllers and made it a less desirable job.
The ATC group did a wildcat walkout which was forbidden under their contract.

If you have never been on or flown a Blackhawk, how do you know how it is suppose to operate?
I know it’s not supposed to fly into a commercial jet and kill 64 people.

I also know that the military is not picking the best and brightest. Neither is the federal government.

No shit? That's DEI right there pal................dumb it down to get the 'look'.

We don't need a military staffed in such numbers anymore.

Technology and lethality have a lot to do with that.

Well, you believe what you hear on Fox News.
And you quote Newsmax. I can't believe that.

Damn how did you figure that?

You have NEVER served, so how do you know who they are picking?

What are you basing that on?

Damn, how stupid can you get? They are NOT prioritizing competence. Thus, the competence level of all government workers, as a whole, is lower than it would be if competence was the #1 factor.

I am trying to figure out how someone who has never served in the military, never worked for the military, doesn't have a clue about military operations can tell us about the military.

I am trying to figure out what you are basing your opinion on.

It’s well known that the military, and Governmwnt in general, has de-emphasized competence in favor of diversity. As a result, we end up with a less competent workforce than we would otherwise.

I am trying to figure out how you can’t understand that.

Gee whizz Lisa, even JoeB131 figured that out.

Based on what? What military operation did we fail on? What country has overrun our military. Give me something specific.
