Here's the problem with your DEI complaints. The military isn't making its recruiting numbers now, even with DEI. Women and minorities aren't signing up. It's bad enough that only about 27% of people in the desired age group even QUALIFY to enlist. The fact is, with perpetual wars and much better opportunities in the private sector, a lot just don't want to.
When they took a poll of young people and why they aren't signing up. "Death and Injury" were cited as reasons by the vast majority of them.

That's not unusual. They operate safely with reduced staffing, the system has built in redundancies. If staffing levels are endangering safe operation, the tower is closed...by law.Actually, most ATC stations are understaffed.... 285 out of 313 across the nation.
