Hating Hatters
Here's a nice, happy topic that we should all be able to discuss and keep to the rules of this sub-forum.

Rabbits are cute, fuzzy and cuddly. They make excellent pets and are a great hedge against food shortages because they are also mighty tasty.

What do you think?

kill the wabbit... kill the wabbit... :eusa_eh:

thought that was "nazis and wagner"...

Heh.. .that, too!

But What's Opera Doc... (Kill The Wabbit) is probably the best cartoon ever made. You can watch it on Youtube in the link provided in this article.

50 glorious years of 'kill da wabbit'

'What's Opera, Doc?,' a cartoon that would likely never be made today, celebrates golden anniversary

At any other time, the film would not have been made. Imagine the pitch: "Let's steal time and funding from our other projects so we can go way over budget making a cartoon with no jokes, and no real gags. The score will be a German opera. Kids won't get it. Most adults won't get it, but I don't care because I think it's funny."

Fortunately, the time was 1956, the director was Chuck Jones, and the place was the Warners Bros. backlot animation studio dubbed "Termite Terrace." The result – released 50 years ago this week – was "What's Opera, Doc?," voted by animators in the 1994 book The 50 Greatest Cartoons: As Selected by 1,000 Animation Professionals to be the greatest cartoon of all time.

It is the antithesis of the routine cartoon. In place of snappy one-liners we see Elmer Fudd and Bugs Bunny singing their parts with complete sincerity and commitment. The backgrounds are beautifully textured paintings. The score is powerful and moving. Bugs cuts a striking figure in a metallic brassiere before Madonna was even born. It's audacious and decadent and beautiful and bold and everything the vast majority of cartoons would never dare to be.

Chuck Jones was a genius.

Many of the old cartoons were quite incredible.

One of my favorites is the Fantasia movie. That is totally intense, and I have wondered for a log time at the "recreational use" of some of those that made that show!

Nothing today really compares to the old cartoons.

When they did Bugs on Broadway, I got to go opening night. So they had full orchestra playing all the classical music while the cartoons played.

Nothing like Kill da Wabbit. ;)

I believe that should be

no no no no
no CATS for dinner.

Leave a paw attached just to make sure.

Did anyone know you can starve to death from eating rabbits??? IF you ate rabbits every day as a meal, you could starve to death. I just read this earlier today. Their are Hudson Bay reports about trappers having plenty of rabbits to eat for food, but starved to death. Supposedly it takes more vitamins and energy to digest the rabbit meat than what you get out of them. The Vitamins you get from the rabbit will pass through with your waste...so you really don't get much from them...just substance. Anyway, just thought that was interesting.
