Catholic Bishops Oppose Compromise on Birth-Control

That isn't the point dipshit. It is about principle and the way Bishops treat women. I could care less if I have to pay for BC. You are missing the point, grow up yourself and get a clue.
I don't really care how it 'sounds' to you. I don't force my views on you, it would be great if you could do likewise. My faith does not impact on you, unless you choose to work for a Catholic organization... and that is your choice.

I posted the six points from the Conference of Bishops as to why they cannot support the mandate.... they didn't pick this fight... the Administration did when Obama lied to Cardinal Designate Dolan. Now, I appreciate that that is no big deal to you but, to me, I have an issue with your president treating my faith with such a lack of respect.

Let us not forget.... it was the Obama Administration who came to the Church - looking for it's support of ObamaCare... not the other way around... and in order to get that support, he lied to the Cardinal Designate. That is disrespectful. Again, I appreciate that respect may not be a big deal to you but, frankly, I'm sick and tired of politicians who lie. That's just the way I am.... (and yea, that does include the GOP).

They can't support the mandate, while it seems most catholic owned companies cover BC and say it isn't Politics? Yeah right.
And If I worked at a Catholic hospital your faith would impact me. You cannot cover one elective med(which isn't always elective) while covering other elective meds. It is called discrimination. So I have a problem with your religion discriminating against women, and treating them with a lack of respect. See how that works?

Toothpaste and toothbrushes are basic human health need.... so is food, housing and soap. Yet nobody is arguing that these should be provided free of charge. Why? because the "we like abortion" platform isn't selling so the Dems have switched to "Republicans hate women" based on any opposition to free BC. BTW left wing whackaloons.. nobody is or has been denied access to BC.. any one of you can walk into a CVS and buy condoms. And I hope you all do.... there's way to many of you needy trolls wandering around as is.

Grow up already.

Any woman who supports these bishops is a sheep, and should get their head checked. Just sayin!

If I am paying a premium, and am a valued employee I would hope my emPloyer wouldn't discriminate against me because I am a women.
The Catholic Church has spent years treating women like second class citizens, how do you feel about that?

They aren't discriminating against you, they are standing by their doctrine. It's not about you. It's about their doctrine. Two completely different things.

And no, I don't see how I've been treated as a second class citizen. It is my choice to be a Catholic - no one has ever forced me.
Look at history and the way Catholics have treated women, makes me want to choose to be a Catholic. I would feel better about being forced.

And is nothing to do with their doctrine, and everything to do with these Bishops being male and wanting to play politics.......Because if it was about doctrine, most Catholic Charties, and Catholic owned companies wouldn't already cover BC.
This is all about the Catholic Arch Bishops wanting to get involved in politics, improve their image, and stick it to women all at once. Personally, from what has happened in history don't want to the Catholic Church playing politics.

Why as a Catholic women don't you stand up to the Bishops, a majority of Catholics for one don't even agree with them? Why blindly support a bunch of men with outdated ideas? Because it is your choice? Kind of sounds like you are being a sheep to me.

That is not true Luisa. The Catholic Church is not changing anything, Obama-Care is. You seem to think it's okay for the Catholic Church to fund Abortion. The Catholic Church disagrees with you. Their position is not about Male or Female, but Supporting the Sanctity of Life. There is no surprise here, now is there? The Church is not Prohibiting you from getting an abortion. The Church is not Excommunicating you for getting an abortion. You think the Church Evil because it won't pay for your abortion. Your wires might be a little crossed on ethics and ideals.

Plenty of Women are Right to Life Luisa. Why categorize them like that. What does that sat for your support of free expression? It's okay to agree with your agenda, and not okay to question it?

We want to make the church fund abortions? Wow!

I support religious liberty. This wasn't a fight that the Catholic Church picked.... the Administration did. All the Church has done is stood its ground, and - frankly - if your messiah thinks he's bigger than our Messiah, good luck with that.

On the bright side, my judgement isn't impaired by drugs.

Everywhere where there is some kind of health care issue, the church and it's charities have a way around it. Everywhere. So no, you're argument is does not stand up to scrutiny.

Don't work for the Church. Easy answer. No one forces anyone to work for the Church. If they do, I'll fight for your right to leave.

Birth control is against many Christian Churches doctrines... we just happen to be the biggest - and we are the ones that Obama sought out to back his damned bill. We did not go looking for this, he came to the Church. He shouldn't have picked a fight that he cannot win.

When you cover elective meds and procedures for men, like penile implants and viagra, and do not cover an elective drug for women it is called discrimination. That argument stand up every time.
If you can openly support an organization that discriminates against women, that is your own problem.

I have no idea what she means either.

Its called principle, it has nothing to do with cost to me. And it has everything to do with a employer being allowed to discriminate against women.
If you don't get want principle means, well that doesn't surprise me. You blindly supports bishops who think you are less than them.

You're completely deranged.

The British system has been verging on collapse for quite some time. The Conservatives keep trying to get a grip of it and, naturally, their idiotic Labor Party scream like banshees about it.

You know, it is funny but these arguments seem to be circular. Chances are, just like our government is broke, England's healthcare system is broken because of the global economic collapse, which I should remind you the GOP created.

And the answer? Like here in America, the rich need to start chipping in their fair share in England. I know you think they pay more than their fair share, but that is simply not true. Not only should we in America roll back the Bush tax breaks, we should also eliminate the Reagan tax breaks.

Its not just in Wisconsin or the 99%ers all over the country. Its the middle class in France and Greece and Syria and Egypt. Everywhere people are waking up to the oppression. And we aren't buying it that its because of social security, medicare, unions or fanny may.

The multinational robber barons have waged class warfare on the middle class.

And the funny thing, it must have also hurt you. Do you have a 401K or a home? Then the GOP's policies hurt you too. Will nothing wake you up?

Liberals answers to everything, send all the money to elitist politicians, and let them decide what is fair and who gets what:cuckoo:

The problem is government "entitlements" is the reason Greece is financially unstable. The left want to say that we spend too much on the military and THAT should be cut, when in reality Defense makes up 24% . . . while Health Care, Social Security, and Welfare make up for 58% of the Federal Budget. When Obamacare gets fully implemented, you can expect the scales of debt to be even more lopsided. The question is, will we ever wise up on entitlement spending before our debt can no longer keep up when paying on just the INTEREST of debt we owe. I firmly believe, if you desire to see more free (the Democrat translation for "let some other more responsible taxpayer pay for it", as nothing is EVER free) entitlements, then let those who want it cut an extra check made out to Uncle Sam. I don't desire to pay for someone else's inablity to make responsible financial intelligent sound decisions for their lives. For example: it's not all too hard to plan for your own retirement, and you can do a lot better job than the government does with social security. The problem is people don't want to take the initiative in responsiblity to "plan" for retirement, because we live in a society of instant self gratification. Entitlements, for the most part, are for those who want someone else (the government) to pick up the pieces and do the planning and providing FOR them.

You wouldn't know 'principle' if your life depended on it. There is nothing discriminatory about Catholic charities not paying for shit that is against their doctrine. If you weren't such a blind partisan hack, you might actually understand the issue. Frankly, I'm sick of you 'freedom for me but not for thee' "liberals".

where i come from women wait untill there wedding night then pretend to enjoy sex.

they don't go around waiting for the socialist government to buy their pills so thay can frolic around like bunnyrabbits without the express purpose of making a baby.

if people could keep their primal urges in check a little better we would have all of these problems.

I'd be willing to bet that finding an 18 year old virgin (legal age for marriage in most states) within 100 miles of your house would be like going looking for Bigfoot.

In other words.......they don't exist.

But......what else should we expect out of you other than blatant lies to try to shore up your position?

Just because you couldn't keep it in your pants doesn't mean there aren't millions of responsible teenagers in this country that do. you're just a sick pervert with a twisted view of the world, you should check yourself in somewhere and hope they have locks on the doors.

If anyone has seen a sensible answer to this question, which has been asked in one way or another about 2 dozen times in these discussions, please post it here.

Why is the Catholic church claiming they can't comply with this requirement - because it's against church doctrine -

when in fact they HAVE been complying with it, in dozens of cases, all across the country,

for years?

Paying for Abortion Services? If that's the case, it is still a Church Issue. What Rome Decrees the Churches will comply with. It's that simple.
