Chicago is lost....the killers control the streets and the democrats don't care...

My bad guys have guns....your bad guys have guns
We shoot anyway
Doesn't deter anyone

More guns is NEVER the answer

Again.....200 million guns to 357 million guns in law abiding hands...the gun murder rate went down 49%...

1.2 million Americans carrying guns for self defense to 15 million law abiding Americans carrying guns for self defense and the gun murder rate went down 49%

nothing you say about guns and gun ownership is true, factual or accurate......not one thing........

Ummmm....you missed out on that crack war thing in the 90s didn't you?

Crack wars ended....murder rates dropped in EVERY city

Sorry.....they kept dropping.......and even then your point is wrong......you guys claim that more guns in the hands of more people create more gun murder....crack wars or not....and you are wrong.....as more Americans bought and actually carried guns...the gun murder rate went down 49%.....the entire basis for your anti gun stance is wrong...and not based in fact or reality....

Putting violent killers in jail is what they are for...would you prefer that they keep getting set free and killing people?

Chicago is currently down 2,000 cops....1000 need to be hired and another 1000 are out on leave and sick leave........so it isn't a police state it is the city protecting it's people instead of putting up decorative planters......

Gun criminals need to be arrested and locked up....what is your issue with that?

We aren't talking police state...that is just a foolish talking point...we are talking about having enough police on the streets to stop crime and investigate it.....which Chicago can't do.....

What is wrong with declaring martial law, rounding up all the known usual suspects and then doing triage:

If they have been murdering people and skating through the system, they get a quick trial and executed.

If they have been engaging in nonviolent property crime, they get 15 to 30 years at hard labor depending on the details.

If they have been relatively harmless drug addicts doing crimes to get drugs, then they spend several years recovering from their addiction in a rehab joint and released?

Sounds good to me.

How do you feel about ending the drug war? Taking the profit out of street-dealing? Do you think it would have a significant effect on violent street crime?
The illicit drug trade is not caused by its own existence.

It fills an economic and social niche for the criminals who want a comfortable life style, or at least the hope of one, but are too stupid to get it legally, so they go into crime.

If you removed the drug trade, the gangs and their more sophisticated managers who run them from the shadows, will contrive other ways of getting rich quick and easy.

These cockroaches simply have to be eradicated first, then remove the fertile grounds that spawn more of them.

I have some acreage and a mobile in northern california. Just about everybody in the area has guns. Never any shootouts. It's the type of people who have guns, not the guns. Need to focus on the people in the bad neighborhoods, not the rest of us.

Oops, that would be profiling.

Well, then maybe we need to profile.

Dammit, that's using common sense. That's what made America great. Common sense. A vote for Trump is a vote for common sense.

Chicago shows what happens when you have too many guns on the street
Or too few?

The biggest advantage the "bad guys" with guns have is knowing the "good guys" are unarmed. Change that scenario and after the smoke clears the streets will be as peaceful as they were before this drug war was launched.

Well, then maybe we need to profile.
Profiling is useless without such practices as "Stop & Frisk," which not only is flagrantly unconstitutional it is a dangerously bad habit for cops to acquire.

The street-crime problem is the direct result of law-abiding Americans being conditioned (brainwashed) to rely on the police to protect them -- which obviously isn't working. Places where citizens who have no violent criminal record or history of mental instability are not constrained from carrying concealed weapons do not have the kind of street-crime problem we're seeing largely in the Northern states.

Most contemporary cops are preoccupied with enforcing the drug laws and the gun prohibitions which prevent law-abiding citizens from defending themselves.

Such as?

Keep in mind the success of the illegal drug trade is the result of substantial public demand, without which no criminal enterprise can flourish. The only other example of such widespread demand was booze. Now it's drugs, mainly marijuana.

Prohibition didn't work and we were wise enough to repeal it. The same wisdom is not applying to the futile, counterproductive drug war -- which is precisely why we are having such crime problems today. End the War on Drugs and we will see a dramatic reduction in street crime -- and a massive reduction in wasted tax revenue.

Well for one they could return to the wite slavery of forced prostitution as a main stay, or illegal gambling or intimidation rackets, or more con games, or....you get the idea.
