Once these two get on the debate stage that is going to be the determining factor where that needle moves. Once thing is for certain, it is going to be a very very very close election with a Trump/Clinton match-up. Anyone who can claim with certainty that their candidate will easily win is delusional. the GOP wants nothing to do with Trump. Look for them to broker a candidate and Trump to run on an independent ticket. The right splits the vote. Neither have enough power to do squat, and Clinton wins. The GOP knows this. They would rather have Clinton than Trump. The simpleton Trump supporters haven't figured it out yet, but they will.
