Clearly, HSA is a not only a waste of time effort and money, but it's only role is to keep track of Republicans who are apparently the only enemy worth tracking. The TSA lets about 90% of banned items on. I get on with a small Swiss Army knife and book of matches.

Homeland Security somehow missed the Sacramento Shooters "I <3 Jihad" posts on Facebook, it's not like they were endorsing the NRA or Tea Party ya know.

Close HSA.

a good example of "a liitle government is good, so a lot must be better".

they can do everything they do now at the airports for security, with two german shepherds, and any American Veteran trained in terrorism. put the extra money into air marshals.

same goes for amtrak and greyhound, only they're known as train marshals and cops.

Federal Air Marshal Service - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

we need to start a watch list of useless federal agencies, starting with the executive branch...:(

We do not have Homeland Security, we have " Homeland Security Theater". It's main stage is the TSA at airports - TSA Fails 95 Percent Of Undercover Security Tests: Report. They are too busy confiscating your nose hair clippers and cologne to catch guns, knives, and explosives.

The idea that the government can prevent terrorism is blatantly silly. The intelligence agencies have proved useless. NSA did not prevent the first attack on the Twin Towers in 1993, nor in 2001. French intelligence did not prevent the recent attacks in Paris. Russian intelligence didn't stop the downing of the airliner over Syria. On and on and on. A crazed Muslim who is willing to die for "allah" is impossible to stop.

Therefore terrorism by Muslims in America and Europe cannot be stopped. Stopping them would require excluding Muslims, deporting them, or controlling them by totalitarian methods.

(of course we could just start minding our own business in the Middle East, but that will never happen!)

I think the acronym you are looking for is DHS.

Like I said before, the liberals aren't the ones who disarmed military recruiters. They have never been armed.

Idiots.

So let's say you arm the recruiters. Then the terrorists will just start shooting up malls and restaurants and daycare centers.

Your big hammer solution is worthless.

Hey, I predicted a long time ago the terrorists would move on to buses and restaurants and malls once we got our airports locked down tighter than Bill O'Reilly's ass.

It's what they did in Israel since El Al is impregnable. It's what they will do here.

DHS will use that as an excuse to read your mail and check your internet porn surfing habits. And the Right will demand national identity papers to control your movements.

Oh, wait. They have already done that.

2012:

It should be very concerning to all that a TSA agent who can ruin your life has virtually no training.

Lefties get all heated up when cops abuse their authority, and cops get way more training than these rank amateurs. So giggling at concerns about TSA thuggery demonstrates hypocrisy.

The topic title says TSA is coming to our highways, but the OP does not explain what that means.

What it means is that they are now inspecting trucks at weigh stations, and they are at train and bus stations. All public transit nodes.

Is this a good or bad idea? We should debate it. I have said many times that once we make our airplanes invulnerable to terrorist attacks, it will only be a matter of time before terrorists begin blowing up buses and pizza restaurants. Israel's El Al airlines are bulletproof and so they are attacked by suicide bombers on buses and in night clubs and restaurants.

I, for one, do not want someone who was living under a bridge being given a badge and heavy duty federal powers with just 10 days of classroom training. No fricking way.

Damn, that guy's a genius. :D

i don't fly anymore, and i'm sorry for those who must. but who i really feel for is the tsa people. they are like our police, people we know, our family or friends.
we can't take our problems out on the people we know.

i'm not kidding about the dogs.
Are Dogs the Solution for Airport Security Screening?

LabNose_12_01_2010.jpg

the only things stopping us are allergies and phobias.

As The Christian Science Monitorreports today, bomb-sniffing dogs have screened passenger cargo for decades and currently sniff for explosives across mass transit systems as well as in Afghanistan and Iraq. The use of bomb-sniffing dogs at airports has also received approval internationally. In June, the European Union approved the use of bomb-sniffing dogs to screen airline passengers.

But, as CSM notes, bomb-sniffing dogs present a multitude of problems that make their use at security checkpoints less than ideal.

Concerns about costs and passenger resistance (whether possible allergic reactions or fear of being bitten) top the list. Training a single dog and the dog's handler can take 10 weeks or more, not including regular recertification. Moreover, real explosives must be used to train dogs, which can be both inconvenient and potentially hazardous.

They are incompetent nincompoops. It's time to get rid of them. Why are we wasting money on an agency that fails 95% of the time?

it's a tough job, people have to travel. it's a paradox.
we waste money on a lot less important stuff than that.
