The Collateral Murder video was edited to "prove" the US committed war crimes.

In fact, the unedited video shows no such thing.

Bradley Manning 'Approved' Edits To 'Collateral Murder' Video, Witness Says
FORT MEADE, Md. -- A computer forensics expert testified on Wednesday that confessed WikiLeaks source Bradley Manning said in a 2010 email exchange that he had "approved" edits to video of a U.S. Army helicopter attack in Iraq that killed two Reuters journalists.

That so-called "Collateral Murder" video was perhaps the most explosive document among the 700,000 that Manning sent to WikiLeaks. The organization's founder, Julian Assange, was criticized for releasing it initially in an edited and shortened form in 2010.
Assange admits it was edited:

Stephen Colbert Grills Wikileaks Founder on Helicopter Video
One constant criticism of Wikileaks' helicopter video has been that its heavy editorial slant clashed with the supposed objectivity of the material they presented. Colbert challenged Assange on this point: "You have edited this tape, and you have given it a title called 'collateral murder.' That's not leaking, that's a pure editorial." Assange responded that Wikileaks promises their sources that they will "try and get the maximum possible political impact for the material the give us."

Assange and Manning lied. There were no war crimes shown in that video -- unless you count the terrorists who are unlawful combatants.

I would say I'm shocked but why lie.

Several of the terrorists are quite clearly shown with AK-47s, and the RPG is quite plain.

Some people have such a visceral loathing for the US and her military they'll blindly and unquestioningly believe anything bad about them.

I think this edit clearly shows Manning played not just an active role inhurting America, he made it worse by lying through omission of evidence, which as I understand it is obstruction of justice. Correct me if I'm wrong.

AN OPEN LETTER OF RECONCILIATION & RESPONSIBILITY TO THE IRAQI PEOPLE

From Current and Former Members of the U.S. Military

Peace be with you.

To all of those who were injured or lost loved ones during the July 2007 Baghdad shootings depicted in the Collateral Murder Wikileaks video:

We write to you, your family, and your community with awareness that our words and actions can never restore your losses.

We are both soldiers who occupied your neighborhood for 14 months. Ethan McCord pulled your daughter and son from the van, and when doing so, saw the faces of his own children back home.

We have been speaking to whoever will listen, telling them that what was shown in the Wikileaks video only begins to depict the suffering we have created. From our own experiences, and the experiences of other veterans we have talked to, we know that the acts depicted in this video are everyday occurrences of this war: this is the nature of how U.S.-led wars are carried out in this region.

The soldier in video said that your husband shouldn’t have brought your children to battle, but we are acknowledging our responsibility for bringing the battle to your neighborhood, and to your family. We did unto you what we would not want done to us.

Solemnly and Sincerely,
Josh Stieber, former specialist, U.S. Army
Ethan McCord, former specialist, U.S. Army
...you just got done stating you support the troops...

...well, do you support these troops?

If that is an un-edited video, why is the length only 1/4 of the original video posted on Wikileaks?

Under no circumstances may you fire upon someone tending to the wounded.

That is a war crime and you're one disgusting mother-fucker for implying it isn't!

Thank you for contributing this to the board, Billo Really. I read the date on their letter of April, 2010, when people thought they were seeing an accurate video of events taking place. We now have new information that the video was edited to make it appear our troops did bad things, when in fact, they did their best to clear terrorists out of the area. Terrorists who illegally converted two minor children as soldiers when they used them as soldiers for propaganda, ensuring that if anyone was hurt, they would be hurt first.

It is against international law to use children for propaganda purposes, and the United Nations Resolution 1261 prohibits it as well.

You have the right to your own opinion, but think about this...

...the "un-edited" version in the OP, is only a 1/4 of the length as the one released on Wikileaks.

And there is no mistaking the fact that the van in the video was tending to the wounded and there is also no mistaking that there is no law on the planet that allows you to open fire on them.

Rightness and justice are the casualties of errors of omission bent to tell a lie.

Indeed. In service of the progressive agenda, all is admissible. Nothing is forbidden.

Maybe because your questions suck. Defending terrorists and manning and wikileaks is asinine.
I asked him how come the "un-edited" version is only a fourth of the "edited" one and you think that question sucks?

You also think I'm defending terrorists?

Neither one, I'll bet you can't explain.

...you just got done stating you support the troops...

...well, do you support these troops?
Not when they're lying, I don't.

From your letter:
Josh Stieber was in the same company but was not there that day...

Then he doesn't know shit about it.

McCord gave an interview to Wired Magazine:
McCord: I doubt that they were a part of that firefight. However, when I did come up on the scene, there was an RPG as well as AK-47s there…. You just don’t walk around with an RPG in Iraq, especially three blocks away from a firefight….
Weapons confirmed by someone there on the ground.

Do you still want to claim THIS is a camera?

iraqmassacreweaponsclea.gif

Personally, I believe the first attack on the group standing by the wall was appropriate, was warranted by the rules of engagement. They did have weapons there. However, I don’t feel that the attack on the [rescue] van was necessary.
It wasn't a rescue van. As the video showed, it had been dropping off fighters at the firefight. McCord didn't know that.

The TERRORISTS brought their children to the war.
Now, as far as rules of engagement, [Iraqis] are not supposed to pick up the wounded. But they could have been easily deterred from doing what they were doing by just firing simply a few warning shots in the direction…. Instead, the Apaches decided to completely obliterate everybody in the van. That’s the hard part to swallow.

And where the soldier said [in the video], “Well, you shouldn’t take your kids to battle.” Well in all actuality, we brought the battle to your kids. There’s no front lines here. This is urban combat and we’re taking the war to children and women and innocents.

There were plenty of times in the past where other insurgents would come by and pick up the bodies, and then we’d have no evidence or anything to what happened, so in looking at it from the Apache’s point of view, they were thinking that [someone was] picking up the weapons and bodies; when, in hindsight, clearly they were picking up the wounded man. But you’re not supposed to do that in Iraq.

So even if it wasn't a van full of terrorists with their kids (and of course, they were terrorists, as the video shows), they shouldn't have stopped.

Now, you have a choice to make.

1. Accept the truth that you were lied to, and acknowledge that the US military did not commit a war crime, or

2. Blindly press on insisting the edited video is the whole truth, and continue supporting terrorists.

Your call. I know where my money's at.

My bad -- it's not unedited. It shows what Wikileaks edited out to make gullible people like you believe what you so desperately want to believe.

You're not wrong.
No, you are!

Are you going to answer my question in this thread, or are you going to avoid them, like you do all the ones in the other threads?
Maybe because your questions suck. Defending terrorists and manning and wikileaks is asinine.

So you admit you failed, and lack the skill to debate, so go for attacking the messenger, Noted!!!

You were asking a Loser con!!! They can't debate.

You didn't even watch the video I posted, did you? Of course you didn't. If you had, you'd have seen the black van that was later shot up dropping off fighters at the firefight several blocks away.

You're one disgusting motherfucker for sucking terrorist ass.
