Could a zinger have turned the 1788 Presidential election around and changed history?

George Washington won the 1788 election, getting 100% of the popular vote. Imagine if he had gotten zinged by one of his competitors, something as embarrassing as the Lloyd Bentsen/Dan Quayle zinger. Could it have erased a big lead and changed history?

George Washington was reluctant to be president, but at the time was more popular than mom. Hard to imagine a zinger in that election.

Yeah, can you imagine how the South won and every black person today would still be enslaved? Or worse yet, since the South won and the industrial revolution never happened, because cotton was still picked the old fashion way, Japan and Germany go to war against each other, because there wasn't a US to supply the allies of WWII, and thus only Germany and Japan, won and are now locked in a battle till the last man standing. Yeah, a real zinger.
