...and they FAILED horribly!

Dem-ordered study to expose illegal online gun sales backfires

'A Democrat-backed study meant to expose illicit online gun sales instead seemed to show the opposite -- with hardly any sellers taking the bait when undercover investigators tried to set up dozens of illegal firearm transactions.'

So these 2 Democrats and the ATF attempted to sell firearms to 'criminals'...as part of a 'sting'....

WHY are Democrats STILL trying to sell guns to criminals? Didn't Fast and Furious teach them anything?

WHY are Democrats and the ATF attempting to set-up American citizens by attempting to illegally sell them weapons?

And it must be humiliating that all they found out was they were not only wrong about their assumptions but that the American people were a helluva lot smarter than they thought / than they were!

Well they tried I guess. I don't have a problem with this per se, though I hope they realize that politicizing protected U.S rights under your constitution isn't the best way to endear yourself to voters.

Dem-ordered study to expose illegal online gun sales backfires

A Democrat-backed study meant to expose illicit online gun sales instead seemed to show the opposite -- with hardly any sellers taking the bait when undercover investigators tried to set up dozens of illegal firearm transactions.

Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md., as well as Sens. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., and Brian Schatz, D-Hawaii, had commissioned the Government Accountability Office report to look into how online private dealers might be selling guns to people not allowed to have them.

Their efforts were based on a 2016 report from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), which claimed that “anonymity of the internet makes it an ideal means for prohibited individuals to obtain illegal firearms.”

“Congressional requesters asked that GAO access the extent to which ATF is enforcing existing laws and investigate whether online private sellers sell firearms to be people who are not allowed or eligible to possess a firearm,” the GAO report said.

Over the course of the two-and-a-half year investigation, agents tried to buy firearms illegally on the “Surface Web” and the “Dark Web,” generally by sharing their status as “prohibited individuals” or trying to buy across state lines.

But the GAO revealed that their 72 attempts outside of the dark web were all “unsuccessful.”

You would think that their failed experiment would prove to them that their premise / assumption is completely WRONG. Yeah...Democrats, unfortunately, aren't that smart.

Where is this "dark web" where I can buy guns? I've bought firearms from stores, private dealers, gun shows, and private individuals at flea markets, yard, garage, and estate sales, firearms auction sites, and internet discussion boards.

But I know not of this so-called "dark web". It sounds racist to me.

lol. We are colluding now?

I always go to Fox News as a source, was just timing I guess. I wih I had been a minute earlier to be honest :(

this is what we call a backfire.......these lefties are just so full of crap......

The article doesn't say they were trying to sell guns, it said the dems set up this operation in an attempt to buy guns.

It also says that the agents were unsuccessful in all attempts except when they didn't mention they were prohibited from owning guns.
