Anyone with basic reading comprehension can understand that the 2nd Amendment speaks both of "well-regulated militia" and the "rights of the people." The scope of the amendment is not limited to one or the other. They created the 2A because they were cheap and didn’t trust a standing Army
Militias are composed of people, correct? The basic requirement of any militia is that you have and keep your own weapon(s).
However, people don't need to be part of a militia to keep and bear arms. Being part of one is a choice that they alone can make.
Notice how it doesn't say "to keep and bear arms, the people must be part of a well-regulated militia."
Sigh. How rudimentary.
