Kasich/Rubio would have been the best ticket by far.

Not only are they both reasonable and sane, but they would have provided an excellent mix of youth and experience, some ethnic advantage and an increased opportunity for victory in two key swing states.

I did, in Post 8. Conservative media convinced about 35% of the party that everyone but Trump as a RINO (somehow) and that "The Establishment" was evil and that "it" had to be taken down. So that's what happened.

Now, conservative media sees what it did and has determined the only way to not lose is to paint Hillary as evil personified so that enough people will be afraid of her and vote for Trump. I can see that strategy, since Trump is a national embarrassment. And, with Trump's numbers consistently around 40%, it looks like the tactic has attracted around 20 or 25% of the other available voters.

I know you won't agree with any of this, and that's okay. My only concern is that we badly need two strong, serious national parties to keep each other in check, and the GOP is currently in three pieces at a time when the Democrats are running a terrible candidate.

But the weird part is this happy dance Trump's supporters are doing around the ruins of the party, as if the Democrats are going to pause and wait for the GOP to get its shit together. They are not going to pause, they're going to take FULL advantage of this by painting the whole GOP as Trumpsters.
