The house sitter stressed that the body had no markings or signs of trauma, and that Luke would never have hurt anyone. She believes the dog was trying to help the infant.

“I believe [Luke] found it, picked it up and brought it. There was no trauma you could tell he inflicted," she said.... Medical experts are currently trying to determine if the baby was born alive or stillborn.

According to KOCO, Luke typically roamed over a large area, which officials are currently canvassing for clues about the infant.

All 50 states have some form of "safe haven" legislation that allows parents -- or someone with a parent's permission -- to anonymously leave a newborn at designated safe locations without fear of prosecution for neglect or abandonment.

Are you being intentionally dense? No where is it suggested she doesn't care about the child. But she doesn't want the dog blamed, and then destroyed for hurting the infant. There is no suggestion whatever by anyone that the dog is more important than the dead infant.

Did you read the article? The baby weighed about 3 pounds. It was premature, which is enough for it to die naturally, especially when it is not being treated in an neo-natal clinic but has been abandoned somewhere. Also, as is mentioned in the article it may have been stillborn. Lots of babies die a natural death at birth. As no baby has been reported stolen or taken by a dog, it is unlikely this dog stole the baby and shook it, killing it. The report that it was bringing to the human people to try to help it is quite realistic.

I have always thought that dogs are smarter than they are given credit for, but for them to be smarter than certain people in this world only makes this planet a more sad and sick place to be.
